Wednesday
Weather
A bit of a come down from the amazing clarity of the past few days. Humid air will bring cloudy skies, occasional light rain or drizzle and perhaps some mist or hill-fog in the latter part of the day. Winds will still be lovely and light, just a force 3 ENE’ly for the most part, so the 15C max should feel pretty comfortable (especially on the west coast), despite the lack of sunshine.
Surf and Tide
Lovely clean 1-3 foot waves pretty much all day long, but especially in the afternoon. Low water will be 3.7m at 8:40am. High water will be 7.2m at 2:50pm.
Thursday
Weather
I'm afraid the Thursday forecast has degenerated significantly over the course of the week. What did look like a few morning showers, now looks like at least half a day of rain, and maybe a bit of late evening sunshine if we're lucky. It's not going to be a cold day though, we should get up to 16C and the WSW’ly wind will only be force 3-4. Head to Town or Fermain for the warmest conditions.
Surf and Tide
4-5 foot surf on the west coast. Only a little bit choppy because the wind won't be too strong. Portinfer will probably be best. Low water will be 3.2m at 10:10am, then high water will be 7.9m at 4:10pm.
Friday
Weather
A dry and sunny day, with mixed cloud and brightness. It's going to be a but of a windy one though, with a force 6 SSW’ly blowing in some pretty warm air. Max temps should be 17C but you will have to seek shelter to really feel the benefit.
Surf and Tide
An awesome day for surfing and windsurfing. The west coast should have clean 4-5 footer through most of the day, which will then jump up to about 8 feet towards dusk. Low water will be 2.5m at 11:10am, then high water will be 8.7m at 5:10pm.
The Weekend
It's another turn for the worse I'm afraid. Friday's strong winds will persist, but veer SW’ly and then NW’ly on Saturday. Then on Sunday, the wind will ease significantly but it will veer to a really rather cold N’ly direction. As for the weather, a band of rain is expected to move through on Saturday afternoon or evening, but arrival time is still really uncertain. Sunday might be drier and sunnier, but that's also really uncertain) I'm afraid.
Next Week
With high-pressure centred over the north of the UK, we will probably have strong E’ly winds throughout. This will bring a mixed bag of sunshine and showers, with temperatures that are on the cool side of an average. Perhaps most significantly though; we are going into a period of very large spring tides again, and this could be quite troublesome on the east coast, with the biggest tides on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday.
The next forecast update should be with you on Thursday evening.
