The week of the school half-term hols can be split into two halves, first the cooler half with winds from the eastern half of the compass, and then the milder half with winds from the western half. The week as a whole is not looking quite as dry as it was a few days ago, but it's far from a washout, so there should be plenty if opportunities for families to have some outdoor fun.
Monday
Weather
Winds about force 5 E’ly at worst, so it's not looking quite as threatening to the east coast around high tides as previously had. That said, there might still be a little overtopping. Weather-wise it will probably be pretty cloudy but mostly dry in the east, but with occasional light rain in the west. This us due to a soggy weather system sitting very close by to the west. Hopefully far enough away that the odd ray of sunshine is possible, but that could be a bit of a tall order. Either way, it's going to be cool, with temperatures only around 10-12C.
Surf and Tide
Maybe a foot of clean west-coast surf, but after the under-delivery of Sunday’s swell, I doubt that it will be anything more than flat. High water will be 9.8m at 6:20am and 10m at 6:40pm.
Tuesday
Weather
A more threatening day for the east coast around the times of high water (see below), as this time the ESE’ly wind will occasionally be touching strong force 6. Fortunately the clock change at the weekend, has removed the worst of it from the morning rush-hour, but it could still be a bit messy up until 8am. As for the weather, it will probably be just as cloudy and cool as Monday, but with widespread rain and drizzle I'm afraid, especially in the late afternoon and evening.
Surf and Tide
A higher chance of seeing clean 1-foot waves on the west coast, but they will be kiddy-sized and I expect that the little ones will struggle against those offshore winds. As for the tides; two 10m highs, one at 7am and one at 7:20pm.
Wednesday
Weather
The morning high tide generally won’t be bad as on Tuesday, due to winds dropping off to force 5, but it will still be rather splashy aLong Bulwar avenue, so drive carefully or perhaps consider avoiding it during the morning rush-hour. As for the weather; still wet at times but at least a degree milder than Tuesday, as the wind backs to a SSE’ly direction. We should enjoy our driest hours during the middle part of the day and this will be most enjoyable on the west coast, especially down towards Pleinmont. Make the most of it, because rain will be arriving in the evening and possibly sticking around throughout Thursday.
Surf and Tide
Still a bit of a kiddy-sized wave but it should be a bit more manageable, thanks to the improvement in the wind. High water will be 9.9m at 7:40am and 9.8m at 8pm.
Thursday and Friday
Rain or drizzle for the first half of Thursday morning, but probably dry for the rest of the day. It won't be cold either, as the SSW’ly breeze bings 15+degree air over the island. Friday then even milder, probably hitting 17C in Town, when the wind veers W’ly and the murky weather is replaced by sunshine and showers.
The Weekend
With the model forecasts changing every six hours from heaven to hell and back again, this one is completely uncertain. See the updates closer to the time and hopefully it will have become clear.
The next forecast update should be with you on Tuesday evening.
