Well so far, this week has turned out to be much wetter than initially expected. Furthermore, the forecast for the coming weekend has become significantly worse. The one thing that has remained consistent though, is the temperature trend. Indeed the frigid feeling of the last few days should soon be replaced by a much milder airflow from the Atlantic.
Wednesday
Weather
The morning high tide generally won’t be bad as on Tuesday, due to ESE’ly winds dropping off to force 5, but it will still be rather splashy along Bulwar avenue, so drive carefully or perhaps consider avoiding it during the morning rush-hour. Weather-wise, it's another day of rain and drizzle with only a little dryness at times. The best conditions likely to be in the late morning and perhaps through lunchtime. Mex temp 13C.
Surf and Tide
Still a bit of a kiddy-sized wave but it should be a bit more manageable, thanks to the slight improvement in the wind. High water will be 9.9m at 7:40am and 9.8m at 8pm.
Thursday
Weather
Significantly milder, with temperature’s peeking at 15C. Winds will be variable in direction but mainly W’ly and only a light force 2-3 for the most part. Rainfall us uncertain I'm afraid, but it looks most likely to be just in the early morning and then the evening.
Surf and Tide
Cleanish waves because the onshore winds only be light wave heights will be 1-3 feet for most of the day, but hopefully jumping up to 4 feet by dusk. As for the tides; high water will be 9.6m at 8:20am, low water will be 1.2m at 2:50pm.
Friday
Weather
The warmest day of the week so far, with SW’ly winds bringing sunshine, showers and rainbows. Temps should generally max out at 16C but Town could easily stretch to 17C.
Surf and Tide
Cleanish 3-4 foot waves again. High water will be 9m at 8:50am, low water will be 1.2m at 3:20pm.
The Weekend and Beyond
Forecast models initially flip-flopped between a dry and settled picture and something akin to a winter storm. Regrettably, the models have been consistent for more than a day now, and I'm afraid the story is far from settled. Showers or longer spells of rain will be coming and going, but the biggest news is definitely about the wind. With gales in the area on both days, it's looking decidedly rough, not only on the island but in the water and in the air. After that, the outlook really isn't looking much different, except perhaps for a little respite from late Tuesday through Wednesday. But don't hold too much faith in that, because details are highly likely to change.
The next forecast update should be with you on Thursday evening.
