Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Monday 04/11/2019

Despite the horrendous rain and wind over the past week, at least the temperature trend was upwards. This week things are turning cool again I'm afraid. The is hope of some relatively pleasant weather, but those moments will be rather brief at best. Read on for the daily details…

Monday

Weather

With a mixed bag of bright spells and occasional heavy showers, the main thing to be aware of is the wind… because this will be a force 5 (occasionally 6) SW’ly, it will be one of the milder days of the week, particularly in sheltered parts like Town and Fermain. The top temp should be 14C and then the overnight minimum will be a rather chilly 9C

Surf and Tide

6-8 feet of semi-clean surf in the west coast and maybe some really clean 2-foot waves up north. The tides are pretty small this week, Monday’s will be 7m high at 11am and 3.9m low at 5:40pm.

Tuesday

Weather

With a force 5-6 N’ly wind blowing all day, we won't see much change in the weather, but it will probably be a degree or two cooler than Monday. The south coast cliffs and beaches will feel much more pleasant than the rest of the island, so they will be the best place to take a walk or a run, but a jacket would still be a good idea in case you catch a shower.

Surf and Tide

It doesn't happen very often, but there could be some gorgeously clean and fairly large waves at Petit Bot and Petit Port. I'd say about 4 feet and 6 feet respectively. The morning should be good but the afternoon probably better. Shame it's not Halloween, because high water will be 6.66m at twenty past midday.

Wednesday

Weather

We will hang on to that chilly N’ly airflow through the morning (much gentler though), but then a milder WSW’ly will turn up in the afternoon. This day has the potential to be the nicest of the week, as it is looking dry, bright and almost calm around noon. Unfortunately however, cloud will thicken up later and some fairly heavy rain will probably set in by evening.

Surf and Tide

Much smaller but still clean south-coast waves in the morning. The west-coast waves should be reasonably clean too, because the wind will be so light. Lunchtime should be the best time at places like Vazon and Perelle, when we should hopefully get some decent 3-5 footers. Low water will be 4.4m at 7:40am, low water will be 6.7m at 2pm

Thursday and Friday

Winds will be rather brisk, gradually veering from W’ly to N’ly, bringing generally cool air and an alternating sequence of sunshine showers and rainbows . Max temps probably won't exceed 12C, except by a whisker in Town.

The Weekend

Forecast models are currently predicting a dry Saturday and a wet Sunday, but they could very easily trade places by the time it comes around. Either way, the weekend is looking just as changeable as the working week.

The next forecast update should be with you on Tuesday evening.
