Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Monday 11/11/2019

Monday

Weather

Strong NW’ly winds will bring a day of sunshine and showers (and no doubt a decent crop of rainbows). The showers are likely to be most frequent and heavy towards the end of the day and overnight (don’t be surprised to see some hail in the mix). The least cold areas will be Town and Fermain, but even there, we are unlikely to exceed 11C.

Surf and Tide

Pretty horrible and messy for surfers on the west coast. I guess the windsurfing has a bit more to offer, although it will be a rather gusty affair. Low water will be bang on midday (about 2.2m). The highs will be shortly before dawn and after dusk (roughly 8.8m and 8.9m respectively).

Tuesday

Weather

Staying showery (just like Monday) until dusk. After that, we probably won’t see the end of the showers, but we should at least see a reduction in their frequency and intensity. Winds will still be strong and from the WNW, so Town and Fermain should once again be the most comfortable areas, with a top temp of 11C.

Surf and Tide

Maybe some fun 2-4 feet waves at Petit Bot if you like a bit of a novelty. Big tides… highs of about 9.1m at 6:10am and 6:30pm.

Wednesday

Weather

Winds will back to a WSW’ly direction and showers will return. With low pressure becoming centred very nearby in the evening, the showers are likely to become heavy and frequent, possibly just mergeing into a long spell of rain. Throughout the day, just head to the east coast if you want a little shelter from the fresh wind (you’ll still need a coat though).

Surf and Tide

Maybe some good west-coast surf at the end of the day, probably about 2-4 feet and clean. Big tides… highs of about 9.2m at 6:50am and 7pm.

Thursday and Friday

Winds will probably fall light and variable on Thursday then settle into a fresh NE’ly on Friday. It will probably be just as cold as all the other days, but it could turn out to be mostly dry and sunny, rather like the relatively pleasant Sunday that we’ve just enjoyed. Furthermore, the surf could be really nice if this wind forecast comes good (west coast on Thursday and then south coast on Friday).

The Weekend

Probably sticking with the chilly NE’ly airflow through both days. Showers are likely to form in the Dover Strait and propegate along the Channel. Some of these might clip the islands, but they are unlikely too be heavy and hail-ridden like the ones earlier in the week.

The next forecast update should be ready on Tuesday evening.
