Saturday
Weather
A Slightly sunnier morning than afternoon, but all of it relatively lovely, with complete dryness and only a light force 3 (perhaps occasionally moderate force 4) breeze, gradually backing from a SSE’ly direction at dawn to an ESE’ly by dusk. Probably the finest day of the weekend, although not quite the mildest… max temp 9-10°C, definitely one to get out there and indulge in… the north and west coasts offering the most comfortable conditions of all.
Surf and the Water
A dream day of surf, both for the wave-riders and the spectators/photographers. A powerful 6-8 foot swell, with gentle offshore breezes. The expert reefs really serving up the goods, whilst the beginner-friendly spots occasionally being a bit larger than they might prefer. Low tide will be at midday, then high tide (7.9m) around 6pm.
Sunday
Weather
Cloudier than Saturday, with some mist or fog likely on the high ground of the Islands, and maybe a little light drizzle from time to time. Most parishes will be dry and with reasonably good visibility though, so outdoor conditions will still be perfectly useful for running and walking etc, especially considering that the wind will be almost non-existent (just a light force 2 ESE’ly) and the temperature holding steady around 10-11°C.
Surf and the Water
Surf conditions still beautifully clean, but much more beginner friendly and perhaps rather frustratingly small for experts. Starting the day around 3-4 feet, with a favourable tide for Vazon in the first few hours. Finishing the day at just 2-3 feet, with only about an hour of favourable tide. High water will be 8.4m at 6:15am and 8.2m at 8:40pm. Low water will be at lunchtime.
Next Week
Weather
S’ly or SW’ly winds throughout, some days almost calm with just a light force 3, others more stormy with a standard (for winter) strong force 6-7. The whole week will be unavoidably mild due to this wind direction. Unfortunately, however, also unsettled to a varying extent. Monday relatively calm but often wet. Tuesday much more windy but mostly if not entirely dry. Wednesday to Friday all with lots more in terms of both wind and rain, sometimes very strong and heavy, especially Thursday night (so far we seem to be on a bit of a seven-day cycle this January).
Surf and the Water
A full week of clean, and sometimes sizeable surf. Monday will be the smallest day at only 1-2 feet (maybe 3-4 feet by dusk). Tuesday onward will be much bigger (especially Friday)… most of it just as clean but with winds more suitable for windsurfing and kitesurfing. High tides at breakfast time (generally between 8.5m and 9m). Low tides in the early to mid-afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
