Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 18 February 2026

Thursday

Weather

Thankfully a much drier day than of late. Winds will be NW’ly, which is always the recipe for slightly cooler but much clearer air, so it’s great to know that there won’t be any poor visibility affecting the airport either. Skies will be a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine. Those winds will be about fresh force 5 for the most part, meaning that the 9-10°C max will feel more like 5-6°C. Overnight, the wind will back to a force 3-4 W’ly, as skies become generally cloudy, thus preventing temperatures from falling any lower than 7-8°C.

Surf and the Water

With offshore winds on the south coast, and a crazy big swell, there could be some rare nuggets down at the two Petits. The north and west coast will be more suited to windsurfers and kitesurfers, but that swell will be pretty huge so it will definitely be an ‘experts only’ day. In if it’s swimming you like, then Fermain, Saints or Moulin Huet will be your best bets. Tides will be extremely splashy on the west coast, with highs of 9.4m around 7:50am and 9.2m around 8:10pm. Low will be at 2:15pm.

Friday

Weather

The morning should be cloudy but dry, then from lunchtime onward, patchy rain will come and go, none of it especially heavy, although the lunchtime episode will definitely be enough to form a few puddles. The wind will be a moderate force 4 W’ly at dawn, but it will soon back to a fresh force 5 SW’ly and maybe even tickle strong force 6 around lunchtime. Temperatures will be 8-9°C at dawn, increasing to 11°C by dusk, due to the increasing humidity, which means that there will also be a risk of mist and hill fog in the evening.

Surf and the Water

Cleanish 5-6 foot surf on the west coast, but again it will be well suited to windsurfers and kitesurfers. Swimming conditions will be best around breakfast time at sheltered spots like Pembroke or Fermain. Tides will be extremely splashy on the west coast, with highs of 9.4m around 8:20am and 9.2m around 8:40pm. Low will be at 2:45pm.

The Weekend

Weather

Two days of relentless grey sky and SW’ly winds (mostly fresh force 5). Patchy drizzle will come and go, as well as some mist and hill fog, So the various returning skiers etc, might experience the odd delay at either end of their flights. Temperatures will hold close to 11°C by day and then only fall to 9 or 10°C by night.

Surf and the Water

Cleanish west-coast surf both days, a little under 6 feet on Saturday and a little over on Sunday. The west and north coast should host good conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing, whilst some east-coast locations host good conditions for swimming. High tides will be around breakfast time (9.3m Sat and 8.9m Sun) and low tides will be in the mid to late afternoons.

Next Week

Weather

Sorry folks, no change in the unsettled regime. We might be blessed with a little dry and relatively calm interlude on Wednesday afternoon and night. But I’m afraid Monday and Tuesday are looking very similar to the weekend, with fresh force 5 SW’ly winds bringing mostly cloudy skies, with the likelihood of occasional mist and drizzle. Thursday then threatens to be wetter and windier than the previous days, and then Friday even more stormy (obviously that day is a very long way off but forecast models currently predict gales).

Surf and the Water

Big surf all week, 6 feet on the smaller days, 10 feet on the bigger. Most days will be clean on the west coast, but there are early indications that the wind might go a bit ballistic on Friday, so that one might prove to be a write off. Swimming conditions will be best in the east and north, but it would always be best to go around high tide for additional shelter. Tides will move forward incrementally, with Monday’s high being around 10:10am (8.4m) and Friday’s around 3:30pm (7m). Lows (as always) will be about six hours either side.

The next forecast update will be on Saturday…
