Friday

Weather

Rain will peter out soon after dawn, and the cloud will mostly clear by late morning, leaving us with sunshine for the rest of daylight hours. The night time will see plenty of showers coming and going, but there shouldn’t be any during daylight hours. Winds will be force 5 SSW’ly around dawn, veeing W’ly by lunchtime, then relaxing to force 3-4 by dusk, before strengthening again overnight. Max daytime temps will be about 13°C, min overnight temps will be about 9°C.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast surf will be 4-5 feet and clean at dawn (good wind direction), messy by lunchtime, then less messy by dusk (a lighter onshore wind). Swimming conditions will be best on the east coast during the afternoon. Windsurfing and kite surfing conditions will be best in the morning. Low water will be around 9:20am. High water will be about 7m at 3:30pm.

Saturday

Weather

Only one or two breakfast time showers, in an otherwise dry and mostly sunny day. The W'ly wind will initially br fresh force 5, but it should only be light force 3 by the time the day is through, so although the air will be inherently cooler (max temp 12°C), it ought to still feel very comfortable in the afternoon, especially in Town and along the east coast. Winds will then increase again overnight, backing to a SSW’ly direction and reaching fresh force 5 by dawn Sunday. Min temps around 9°C.

Surf and the Water

Cleanish 3-4 foot surf (just a light onshore wind), great cold-water swimming conditions, especially in the east. Low tide will be at 10:40am. High water will be about 7.5m at 4:45pm.

Sunday

Weather

To herald the first day of spring (according to the meteorological calendar), we will have a grey and occasionally damp day. The bulk (perhaps the entirety) of that rain coming in the morning. The wind will be much brisker than on Saturday too, with a fresh force 5 SSW’ly blowing all day. Temperatures perhaps being a degree higher than on Saturday (likely peaking at 13°C), but probably feeling as though it’s cooler, due to the greyer skies and stronger winds.

Surf and the Water

Clean 3 foot surf, and a great wind for windsurfers and kitesurfers too. Swimming conditions will be best at either Fermain or L’Ancresse late afternoon, when the tide is high and the shelter is best. Low water will be at 11:30am, and high water will be 8.3m around 5:30pm.

Next Week

Weather

The wind will be a fresh S’ly at the start of the week (Monday morning) and a fresh N’ly by the end (Friday afternoon). And the in-between days will likely be light force 1-3 from a variety of directions. The only threat of showers appears to be on Monday night, perhaps Tuesday, and then again on Thursday night. The rest of the week should be dry and mostly sunny. Daily temperatures will likely peak between 11 and 13°C. Nightly temperatures will vary more widely, with the cloudy/breezy nights only falling to about 9°C and the clear calm nights falling to about 5 or 6°C.

Surf and the Water

The surf should be clean every day except Friday, due to fairly strong S’ly winds on Monday, virtually no wind Tuesday to Thursday, and then a fairly strong N’ly wind on Friday. Wave heights will vary between about 2-3 feet on the smaller days and about 4-5 feet on the bigger days. Windsurfing and Kitesurfing will be best on Monday and Friday. Swimming conditions will be best on the days in between. High tides will be around breakfast time (8.8m being the smallest one on Monday, 9.6m being the biggest one on Thursday. Low tides will be in the early afternoons.

The next forecast update will be on Saturday evening or Sunday morning…
