Wednesday
Weather
Another incredibly sunny spring day, with a max temp of around 15-16°C and a light force 2-3 ESE’ly wind. Can’t say much more than that… simply gorgeous. Overnight, the moon and the stars will look fabulous, as the wind increases to moderate force 4 and the temperature falls to about 8°C.
Surf and the Water
The solid swell of Tuesday will be massively reduced, with only playful 3 foot waves at dawn, reducing to 2 feet by dusk. Swimming conditions will be gorgeous on the west and north coasts particularly. High water being best for shelter, although waves might make this difficult on the west coast. Tides will be high around 7:10am and 7:30pm (9.6m and 9.5m respectively),. Low water will be at lunchtime.
Thursday
Weather
A moderate force 4 SSE’ly wind, and some high cloud making the sunshine more hazy, the temperature probably won’t exceed 14°C on this day. But it will still feel pleasant and look absolutely lovely. The north and west coasts will be slightly more sheltered than the others, but only in places, mainly down on the sand, just beneath the sea walls. Overnight, the cloudier skies will keep temperatures a little higher than previously, so I doubt we will fall any lower than 9°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be mostly 2 feet and super-clean again, with occasional 3 foot sets possibly slipping through. Swimming conditions will be gorgeous on the west and north coasts again, with high water offering the best shelter from the wind. Tides will be high around 7:45am and 8:10pm (9.7m and 9.4m respectively), which means that the east will probably be splashy in the morning. Low water will be at 2:15pm.
Friday
Weather
Some showers likely in the morning, but the afternoon will probably dry and reasonably bright. The wind only light force 2-3 but coming from a NNE’ly direction, so not especially warm… likely holding steady at 10°C in the morning and then 11-12°C in the afternoon. Overnight, under mostly clear skies, we will probably see a min of 8°C.
Surf and the Water
Another day of clean 2-3 foot waves. This time the cleanliness will come from very light wind conditions rather than a brisk offshore like that of Thursday. Swimming conditions will therefore be good on all coasts rather than just the west and north. High water will be about 9.5m at 8:20am and at 2:45pm.
The Weekend
Weather
Saturday’s wind will be E’ly, increasing from light force 2-3 at dawn, to moderate force 4 by dusk. Sundays wind should be light force 3 SE’ly throughout. Both days will be a mix of cloud and sunshine, but nice and dry, except perhaps for some showers on Sunday evening (sparsely scattered but possibly heavy). Temperatures will probably peak at 13°C each day, but maybe getting up to 14° on Sunday if we are lucky.
Surf and the Water
Tidally, we will have breakfast time highs (9.1m on Saturday, 8.6m on Sunday). Lows will be in the mid-afternoons. Surfers will enjoy super-clean 4-5 foot surf, briefly picking up to 6 feet around dusk on Saturday. Saturday (although uncertain) currently looks like the best day for anyone who hopes to windsurf, and Sunday the best for swimming (mainly on the north coast).
The next forecast update will be on Friday morning…
