Sunday
Weather
A greyer day than Saturday, but likely dry until around 4-5pm, by which time not only will a spell of drizzle have arrived, but the SW’ly wind will have increased too... from light force 3 around dawn to force 4-5 by mid-afternoon. Overnight, the breeze will veer W’ly and skies will become clear at times. Our temperatures should therefore fall quite easily from the 11-12°C daytime max, to a night time min of around 7°C.
Surf and the Water
Smallish tidal movements, with low water at 10:20am and then high water (7.2m) at 4:30pm. Cleanish 3 foot waves for surfers, and decent afternoon winds for windsurfers and kitesurfers.
Monday
Weather
Most likely dry all day, because there’s only the smallest chance of one or two light showers in the morning. Sunshine will break through at times, mainly in the afternoon, but it will never be particularly plentiful, so it’s doubtful that the temperature will ever exceed that of Sunday. The WSW’ly wind will be moderate force 4, so not especially bothersome, but sufficient to say that the east coast will be significantly more sheltered and comfortable than the others.
Surf and the Water
Low water will be at 11:10am and then high water (7.8m) at 5:15pm. The surf will pick up to about 6 feet, but it won’t be any cleaner than Sunday (there might just be a special moment on the reefs towards dusk though). Good winds for windsurfers and kitesurfers again. Decent enough swimming conditions on the east coast too.
Tuesday to Friday
Weather
Wow! Super-sunny skies… almost unbroken (except for by the night time, when the starlight will be just as fabulous). The wind will determine both how high the temperature climbs and how warm it feels. Tuesday’s moderate force 4 SSE’ly should take us to about 14°C, then Wednesday’s moderate force 4 E’ly will take us to about 16-17°C, then as the wind gradually veers NE’ly through Thursday and Friday, the temperature will taper back to around 13°. Initially, the west coast will feel loveliest, but by Friday the south coast will be the place to be.
Surf and the Water
The 2-4 foot surf will be super clean on Tuesday, almost as clean on Wednesday, then a little bit chopped up by the side-shore winds on Thursday and Friday. Tides will become very large due to the new moon, with highs of around 8.3m on Monday (pre-dawn and pre-dusk) increasing incrementally day by day, until we have a high of around 9.6m at breakfast time on Friday.
The Weekend
Weather
Currently uncertain whether a low pressure system, full of thundery showers, will move over central France, or over northern France and the Channel. As such, the wind is likely to remain NE’ly and probably become stronger, but it’s very hard to make the call about whether it will be wet or dry. Either way, it’s not looking warm like mid-week… max temps of 12°C are most likely.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 1-2 foot surf, but decent enough winds for windsurfing and kitesurfing. If you’re a keen swimmer then the south coast will be best for this. Tides will be at breakfast time (9.7m on Saturday and 9.5m on Sunday. Low tides will be in the mid-afternoons.
The next forecast update will be most likely be on Tuesday evening…
