Thursday
Weather
A gorgeously sunny day, only compromised by the inherent coolness of the air, which will be most felt in the morning, when the wind will be at its perkiest… a moderate force 4 and rather gusty N’ly. In the afternoon, however, the wind will gradually reduce to a light force 2 NW’ly. Therefore, the morning temperature of 9-10°C will actually feel more like 5-6°C, but the afternoon temperature of 11-12°C should actually feel like 11-12°C. If you are particularly fair-skinned, then it’s worth starting to watch out for sunburn, because the UV index will be about 5 at lunchtime.
Surf and the Water
Big tides to honour the Paschal Moon, 9.4m around 7:45am and 9.3m around 8pm. The cleanest surf will be towards evening (2-3 feet). The best swimming conditions will generally be on the south coast, but also good on the east coast in the afternoon.
Good Friday and Saturday
Weather
Two cloudy days, with occasional rain or drizzle (mainly on Friday), as well as the risk of mist and hill fog. Winds will be force 4-5 SW’ly, so Town and Fermain will be the warmest and most sheltered areas, scooping the max temp of 12-13°C on Friday and 14°C on Saturday. Most other areas will only be a degree lower, but the wind exposure will make them feel a lot cooler. Night time temps will be on the mild side, only falling to 10°C on Friday night, and then 8-9°C on Saturday night, when the wind veers W’ly and skies eventually start to clear.
Surf and the Water
The surf will gradually increase in both size and cleanliness, about 3 feet on Friday and 4-5 feet on Saturday. Tides will remain huge, with breakfast time highs of 9.4m on Friday and 9.2m on Saturday.
Easter Sunday and BH Monday
Weather
Weather-wise, I think most people will agree that this is the good end of the weekend. Both days perhaps a little cloudy in the mornings, but super-sunny in the afternoons. The W’ly breeze easing through Sunday… force 4 in the morning, then force 3 in the afternoon. Strengthening again through Monday though to fresh force 5 or possibly even strong force 6 at times, but coming from a SE’ly direction, meaning that warm air will be dragged up from southern Europe, lifting the max temps from about 13°C on Sunday to 15°C on Monday. East coast for the warmest experience on Sunday. West coast on Monday.
Surf and the Water
Sunday’s surf will be best in the afternoon (6 feet and only slightly choppy). Monday’s surf will be clean but with a wind that is more suited to windsurfing or kitesurfing (2-3 feet). Tides will still be large but they will be on the shrink, with mid-morning highs of 8.9m on Sunday and 8.5m on Monday.
Next Week
Weather
The forecast confidence is very low at this range, but the current expectation is for Tuesday and Wednesday to be very relaxed in terms of wind (compared to Monday), with varying cloud amounts and the constant possibility of a shower. The showers will most probably be reserved for France, so these could just end up being warm and pleasant days… max temps around 14-15°C on Tuesday and 13°C on Tuesday. For Thursday and Friday, the wind will have returned to a SW’ly direction and it looks as though we could be in for at least a very cloudy day on Thursday and then a very wet day on Friday. But, as I say, these details are really very uncertain.
Surf and the Water
The surf looks pretty big (maybe around 6 feet), but the wind detail is very uncertain. Tides will be nice and small by the end of the week, with highs reducing from 8m mid-morning Tuesday, to 6.4m lunchtime Friday.
The next forecast update will be most likely be on Friday evening or Saturday morning…
