Sunday
Weather
Get ready for a rather repetitive forecast… sunny sunny sunny, even more so than Saturday. A slightly different wind though, this time a force 3 NE’ly rather than NW’ly, just meaning that the airport area will likely be a little warmer than town, but only by a fraction… peaking around 13-14°C.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will be about 2-3 feet, decreasing 1-2 feet, slightly spoilt by the wind being more cross-shore than offshore. Swimming conditions will be pretty good on all coasts, especially around the times of high water… 9.5m at 8:40am and at 9pm. Low water will be at 2:20pm.
Monday
Weather
Marginal differences from Sunday… just a slightly stronger ENE’ly wind (moderate force 4 on this occasion). Skies will be sunny but that sunshine might be rather hazy from an abundance of cirrus cloud to the south. Should be gorgeous around sunrise and sunset though. Temperatures mush the same as previous days, peaking at 13-14°C. The overnight minim will be slightly higher though… only falling to 8-9°C, rather than 6-7°C.
Surf and the Water
Cleanish 1 foot surf, with he odd 2 foot set for the most patient/lucky ones. Winds may just be strong enough for kitesurfing and windsurfing, probably up on the north coast for the best of that. Tides will be about 9.3m high at 9:20am and 9:35pm. Low water will be around 3:40pm.
Tuesday to Friday
Weather
4 very sunny but also very windy days, that wind being fresh force 5 ENE’ly for the majority of the time, perhaps occasionally dipping down to moderate force 4, but there might equally be the odd moment of strong force 6. Temperatures will be on a gradual rise though, with maxima of about 14-14°C on Tuesday, 15°C on Wednesday and 16-17°C on Thursday and Friday.
Surf and the Water
Likely some clean 1-2 foot waves on Tuesday and some 2-3 foot waves on Friday, but otherwise flat. Windsurfing and kitesufing will be the main events… up on the north coast for that. High tides moving forward by almost an hour each day, such that on Tuesday it will be about 8.9m mind-morning and on Friday it will be just 7m at lunchtime.
The Weekend
Weather
Staying sunny and this time, mercifully, with much lighter winds, probably a force 3 to 4 NE’ly on Saturday, followed by a force 2-3 NE’ly on Sunday. That wind direction brining slightly cooler air, but the gentleness meaning that it feels much more comfortable. 14-15°C for the most likely maxima and 7-8°C for the most likely minima.
Surf and the Water
Maybe some 2 foot surf on Saturday if we’re lucky, but it currently looks no better than 1 foot on Sunday. Lighter winds than mid-week, so much better for sea-swimming. Tides will be low around breakfast time and high mid-afternoon (6.9m on Saturday and 7.2m on Sunday).
The next forecast update will be on Monday or Tuesday…
