Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 24 April 2026

Friday

Weather

A whole load of sunny days, with minor wind variations determining temperature, and whether such things as sand will feel gorgeously soft underfoot or irritatingly sharp as it blows against your skin. Well the past few days have been the slightly irritating version of sunny, and the good news is this one is going to be a little more relaxed… the ENE’ly wind starting daylight hours around 15mph and finishing around 10mph. The temperature likely peaking around 19-20°C, making it perfect for kicking off the weekend with an outdoor gathering somewhere. It seems a little early in the year to say it, but the recent wind, low humidity and shortage of rain has led to a very dry Island, so be careful with barbecues etc, especially the disposables. Sunburn is also an issue now that we are regularly hitting a value of 6 in the late mornings and early afternoons. As for the night time, the half moon will be quite bright but, apart from that, the star gazing conditions should be fabulous, and the minimum temperature will be about 10°C.

Surf and the Water

In recent days, the decent windsurfing conditions have made up for the complete lack of waves for surfers. Today however, even the windsurfers will have to find something else to do. Swimming conditions and (maybe) some tiny waves that are rideable for young children, will be best when the tide is quite high, so the best times will be lunchbreaks or straight after school. High water being about 6.9m at 1pm.

The Weekend

Weather

Light force 3 E’ly winds both days, maybe the odd moment of light force 2 on Saturday and maybe the odd moment of moderate force 4 on Sunday. This, combined with hazy sunshine, will make for a great weekend to mow the lawn, hang the laundry, or spring clean the house with the windows wide open, and to hang all your rugs in the garden etc. But if that all sounds like far too much work, then it will also be fabulous for lounging on the beach or for long walks and bike rides. Don’t forget to protect your skin though, because once again the UV will peak at 6 in the late morning and the early afternoon. Temperatures likely peaking around 19-20°C again on Saturday, then around 18°C on Sunday. Overnight min temps around 8-9°C on Saturday and then 10-11°C on Sunday, when skies will become cloudy and there is even the slim chance of a thundery shower.

Surf and the Water

Possibly some weak 1-2 foot waves on Saturday, but absolutely no rideable surf on Sunday I’m afraid. Winds will be too light to satisfy any windsurfers or kitesurfers, but this will be appreciated by the swimmers, especially on Saturday. Conditions will be best around high tide on most beaches. Saturday’s high water being about 6.8m at 2:30pm and Sunday’s being about 7.1m at 4pm. Low water will be around breakfast time and after dusk.

Next Week

Weather

Lots of sunshine again, but certainly not wall-to-wall. Every day will bring spells of cloudier skies, with the chance of a little rain, possibly in the form of thundery showers. Winds in the first half of the week be NE’ly and feeling relatively chilly, especially by late Tuesday, when they will have strengthened to force 5-6. Then in the second half of the week, the winds will remain annoyingly brisk, but gradually veer to a warmer ESE’ly, bringing some influence of French heat but also raising the chances of thundery showers. Temperatures will likely lower each day, until we only have maxima of 13-14°C on Wednesday, but then we should see a recovery to about 16°C by Friday.

Surf and the Water

Good windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions, but a rather disappointing week for swimming and all other water-sports I’m afraid. The range of tidal movement will increase day on day from medium-small on Monday to medium-large by Friday. Highs being around dawn and dinnertime.

The next forecast update will be on Sunday or Monday…
