Tuesday
Weather
Patchy rain in the morning and through lunchtime, some of it on the heavy side. Dry and bright by mid-afternoon, with a gentle N’ly breeze preventing the temperature from exceeding 15°C. So not the warmest day, and not the warmest night either… with a minimum of 9-10°C and a few brief showers.
Surf and the Water
Total flatness for surfers and insufficient wind for kitesurfers and windsurfers. Not bad for swimmers though, mainly down on the south coast, and preferably towards evening when rainfall runoff will be minimal. Tides will be high at 9:20am and 9:30pm (8.2m and 8.3m respectively). Low water will be at 3:30pm.
Wednesday
Weather
One or two showers likely, mainly in the morning, but dry for the vast majority of the day. Chilly air though, thanks to a continuation of the N’ly or NE’ly airflow. It will only be light though, so it won’t feel too uncomfortable. Max temps of 15°C during some afternoon sunshine, after a mostly cloudy morning. Min temps of about 8°C as skies gradually become cloudy again overnight.
Surf and the Water
Again, total flatness for surfers and probably not enough wind for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Not bad for swimmers down on the south coast though, preferably towards evening, when rainfall runoff is minimal. Tides will be high at 9:50am and 10pm (both 7.9m). Low water will be at 4pm.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Some showers likely early Thursday morning and then on Friday evening, but the inbetween time should be mostly sunny and dry, with SE’ly or E’ly breezes… generally light force 2-3 but possibly moderate force 4 at times. Temperatures will be on the rise, with a max of 15-16°C on Thursday and then 17-18°C on Friday.
Surf and the Water
The surf will probably be flat on both days, but there is the slim chance of rideable knee-high waves on Friday (probably nice and clean if that is the case). Swimming conditions should be pretty good all-round but more especially on the west coast. Tides will be high in the late mornings (7.5m and 7.1m respectively) and low in the late afternoons.
The Weekend
Weather
After some heavy rain or thunderstorms on Friday night, we should see a dry and sunny Saturday, followed by some heavy rain or showers on Sunday. This time temperatures will be on the slide as the wind changes from a light SE’ly on Saturday, to a moderate NE’ly on Sunday… a max of 17-18°C on Saturday, then just 14°C on Sunday
Surf and the Water
Clean 1-2 foot surf is on the cards (fingers crossed). Probably not enough wind for windsurfing or kitesurfing though. Swimming conditions will most likely be best in the west, with only small tidal movements… lunchtime highs of 6.7m and 6.6m respectively.
The next forecast update will most likely be on Friday…
