Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 07 May 2026

Friday

Weather

Thursday night’s cloud might take a few hours to shake off, but we’re looking at a warm and super-sunny day after that. The light force 3 breeze will be E’ly in the morning, subtly shifting to an ENE’ly in the afternoon. That will unfortunately keep a cap on temperatures because it will mean that the extra heat from nearby France will all go to Jersey instead. However, the 18°C max will still be very respectable for early May, and the UV index could be as high as 7, so don’t forget to protect your skin through the late morning and the afternoon. A great evening for barbeques too, although the breeze will pick up to moderate force 4 then, so it would be wise to find the shelter of a good wall.

Surf and the Water

More flatness for surfers, and that’s unlikely to change until we get some onshore chop next week. Not bad for swimmers though, at the north ends of the west-coast bays, or at the east ends of the south-coast bays. Tides will be 7.1m high at 11am, then low at 5pm.

Liberation Day

Weather

A mostly cloudy but rather warm and humid day. Showers will come and go, with longer spells of dryness inbetween. The heaviest showers look likely to be in the late afternoon or early evening, but it’s all very uncertain, because they might meet us head-on or they might just brush us with their edges. The breeze will generally be the same as on Friday… light force 3 E’ly in the morning, veering ENE’ly in the afternoon and gradually increasing moderate force 4. If we get hammered by a heavy shower though, then we might also get some gusts of up to 30mph. Temps will probably peak at 18°C (same as Friday, but with hardly any sunshine, it won’t feel nearly as pleasant).

Surf and the Water

Another flat day for surfers, but there might be some action for kitesurfing and windsurfing in the late afternoon and evening (providing those showers don’t turn thundery). For swimmers, the west coast at high tide will probably be best... 6.7m at midday. Low water will be around dawn and dinnertime.

Sunday and Monday

Weather

Two days of stronger NE’ly winds (force 4-5). Quite a difference between them in terms of weather, but virtually the same in terms of temperature. Sunday will be cloudy with the threat of heavy showers. Monday much drier and sunnier, but by that time chilly air will have been entrained, so we are probably looking at a 14-15°C max both days. Head to the south coast for the best shelter and relative comfort.

Surf and the Water

Flat surf but good windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions. Keen swimmers should head south for shelter. Tides will be nice and small, with early afternoon highs of 6.6m on Sunday and 6.8m on Monday. Low tides will be around breakfast time and dusk.

Tuesday to Friday

Weather

A relatively cool four days, with winds coming from the WNW for the majority of the time. Tuesday will be a very gentle introduction though, and with the lightest winds of all, and with almost wall to wall sunshine, this will definitely be a day to take advantage of… winds light force 3, max temp 15°C. Then for the final three days, we will have an alternating sequence of sunny, cloudy and rainy spells, with fresh force 5 winds keeping the temperatures no higher than 13°C. Throughout the period, Town will be the warmest and most comfortable part of the Island, closely followed by sheltered nooks like Fermain, Moulin Huet, Saints Bays and Petit Bot.

Surf and the Water

Flat surf on Tuesday, then choppy 2 foot surf on Wednesday, and choppy 3-4 foot surf on Thursday and Friday. Great swimming all round the Island on Tuesday, but reserved for those sheltered southern and eastern bays from Wednesday onward. As such those windy latter days will be best of all for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Tides will be increasing in size… high water shifting from mid-afternoon on Tuesday to dinnertime by Thursday and Friday (7.2m, 7.8m, 8.3m and 8.8m respectively).

The next forecast update will most likely be on Sunday…
