Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Monday 23/12/2019

Monday

Weather

Just a slim chance of a shower early morning and perhaps the evening rain will slip in just before dusk. Otherwise daylight hours should be dry and mostly bright. Winds will be strong W’ly at first, gradually easing to a light S’ly. The evening will be rainy and drizzly, but that murkiness should all clear through by midnight.

Surf and Tide

Increasingly clean west-coast surf in the afternoon. Probably about 6-10 feet, depending which beach or reef you choose. Low water 2.4m at 10:20am. High water 8.4m at 4:20pm.

Christmas Eve

Weather

The strong winds will be back. WSW’ly in direction, so fairly well sheltered in Town and really well at Fermain. It will be mostly cloudy but dry, every now and then, perking up with some sunshine, but also occasionally slipping downhill as a brief shower sweeps through.

Surf and Tide.

Low tide at 2m at 11:10am, high tide 8.6 at 5:10pm. Waves a choppy old mess, but hopefully big enough to break at L’Ancresse, where it would be a bit cleaner.

Christmas Day

Weather

Still looking lovely and dry, with just a light and variable breeze. Perfect for a good winter walk, or the riding of new bikes and skateboards etc. If you fancy marking the occasion with a dip in the sea, then it will probably seem much more appealing on Christmas Day than on Boxing Day.

Surf and Tide.

Some lovely clean waves all being well. Gradually reducing from 6 feet to 3 feet but getting ever more shapely as it does so. The tides; about 8.9m high shortly before dawn and after dusk, low water bang on midday.

Boxing Day onwards

Regrettably, the Boxing Day forecast has taken a dive, with computer models now consistent predicting that the next low-pressure system will swing into Southern England rather than Scotland. So this means that we are in for strong SW’ly winds and occasional rain. The good news for those who are doing the charity swim at Cobo, is that it's going to be a pretty mild, with the water at 10-11C and the air at about 12C. Going onto the weekend, Friday is looking like a transitional day with rain eventually clearing to sunshine and then the Saturday and Sunday are looking just as dry and pleasant as Christmas Day. As always, these forecasts can change, but right now it's all looking like a positive step away from the copious rain of recent day

The next forecast update should be on Christmas Day.
