Boxing day
Weather
Quite a come-down from Christmas Day, with strong WSW’ly winds, occasional rain and only a few brief bright intervals if we’re lucky. Don’t worry though, things will be on the up again by Friiday. In the meantime, your most comfortable Boxing Day walks will probably be between Town and Fermain.
Surf and Tide
Choppy surf in the region of 6 feet. Definitely worth a bash, mid-morning at Vazon or Portinfer, but not a patch on Christmas Day I’m afraid. ... Big tidal movements... High water 9.2m at 6:20am, Low water 1.6m at 12:50pm.
Friday
Weather
A gentle to moderate W’ly breeze all day, with a mixed bag of thick cloud and thin cloud, which may allow a brief ray of sunshine to filter through. Probably dry throughout, with a comfortably mild max temp of 12C.
Surf and Tide
Similar surf to Boxing Day. Same kind of size, winds lighter but slightly more onshore in their direction. Same big tidal movements, just a little bit later in the day though... High water 9.2m at 7am, Low water 1.6m at 1:30pm.
Saturday
Weather
Once again, probably dry and mostly cloudy. Any brief sunshine will only hazy at best and with the southerly wind increasing to force 4-5, it’s probably not going to feel as mild as on Friday.
Surf and Tide
Oh yes! Super-clean 6-8 foot waves, best in the morning due to the tides. High water 9m at 7:40am, Low water 1.5m at 2:10pm.
Sunday
Weather
Very similar to Saturday except, it might just be a little more sunny. The north and west coasts will certainly be the most comfortable areas to go gallivanting.
Surf and Tide
The waves will be just as awesome as on Saturday. Slightly better in fact, due to smaller tidal movements. High water 8.8m at 8:20am, Low water 1.8m at 2:50pm.
Next Week
A mostly dry and bright week, with Brisk SW’ly winds bringing mild air every day but also a bit of wind-chill. There will undoubtedly be some cloudier days and the odd brief wet spell. At the moment the wet weather looks most likely to be on Wednesday, but that detail could easily change as the time approaches.
The next forecast update should be with you by the weekend.
