Monday
Weather
The sunniest day of the week. Much like Sunday in every way, but without the dense cirrus cloud and diffuse contrails. All meaning that the sunshine will be brighter, so it might just be a degree warmer. The S’ly breezes will only be gentle, but it will still be noticeably more comfortable in the sheltered west-coast bays.
Surf and Tide
Another amazing day of surf, but much more beginner friendly this time, with pristine waves generally closer to 4 feet than 6 feet. Tides getting a bit smaller now; High 8.5m at 8:50am and low 2.1m at 3:20pm.
NY’s Eve
Weather
This day is perhaps the biggest spoiler of the week, but it could still be a lot worse. Winds will not be that strong, only about force 3 SSE’ly. The weather is the problem, with cloud thick enough all day to give some occasional mist on hills and probably some drizzly rain towards the late afternoon and evening. It should all clear through by the end of the night though, so hopefully not too grim a start to 2020.
Surf and Tide
Super-clean 3 footers, especially in the morning and through lunchtime. High water 8.1m at 9:30am and low 2.5m at 3:50pm.
NY’s Day
Weather
Rather cloudy but dry all day with some brightness at times, and pretty comfortable with just a force 3 SE’ly breeze. Head west or north for the most comfortable New Year outings.
Surf and Tide
A day of pristine 2 footers, perfect for the learners and kids who’ve been finding it a bit too big of late. High water 7.8 m at 10am and low 2.9m at 4:30pm.
Thursday and Friday
Fresh SSW’ly winds negating the effects of the rising temperatures on Thursday. So a jacket would still be a good idea, even though it should be dry and we might just see some brightness. Winds will veer W’ly on Friday, and a band of rain will probably sweep across the area. The timing of that is very uncertain though, so we might find that it happens during the very early hours, leaving us with some sunshine to enjoy later.
The Weekend
Dry, sunny and settled for the most part, thanks to an area of high pressure becoming established over SE England. With winds from the E, the west coast should be particularly lovely, and the surf should be pretty magical to boot.
The next Forecast update will be on the first day of the next decade.
