Thursday
Weather
Another grey day, but not quite as grey as NY’s day because the cloud should be a bit higher and thinner. Mist and fog is very unlikely, except perhaps after dark, when we shall also see the first of the overnight drizzle. Winds will be force 5 SW’ly, so the warmest area should be Town and Fermain, closely followed by Portelet and the Fairy Ring.
Surf and Tide
The waves should be about a foot bigger than on NY’s day, but with a stiffer wind they won't be quite so easy to surf. Lovely small tidal range though. High water 7.3m at 10:40am, Low water 3.3m at 5:10pm.
Friday
Weather
A day of two halves: murky, mild and wet in the morning, then dry, cool and relatively bright in the afternoon. Winds will be rather fresh throughout; W’ly at first, veering NW’ly later.
Surf and Tide
A new big swell will arrive, from a mid-Atlantic storm on NY's Eve.winds will only really allow clean waves at Petit Bot and semi-clean waves at Petit Port. The tides are a bit awkward for those beaches though, so mid to late afternoon is probably the only option. High water will be 7m at 11:40am.
The Weekend
Another couple of mostly cloudy days, with sunshine very limited on Saturday and only slightly more likely on Sunday. Both days should be mostly, if not entirely, dry. Winds; force 5 NW’ly on Saturday, force 4 SW’ly on Sunday. Temperatures peaking at a rather average 9-10C on both days.
Next Week
A rather more wet and windy week, but nothing like as bad as earlier this winter. The winds will be force 4-6 SW’ly or W’ly, importing mild but often cloudy air. Rain and drizzle will feature on some days, whilst others are totally dry. Currently, Monday and Thursday look likely to be the wet days, but at such long range, that level of forecast detail is not particularly certain.
The next forecast update will be at the weekend.
