Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Wednesday 08/01/2020

Wednesday

Weather

Grey and drizzly for the majority of the day. Misty and foggy too, the worst of this being in the morning and afternoon, when the wind is just a light WSW'ly. Through the evening, the improvement won't be particularly dramatic, but with winds backing to a moderate S’ly, the cloud should at least lift, allowing the visibility to improve before the airport closes. Temperatures very much on the mild side again. 12C by day, only falling to 9-10C by night.

Surf and Tide

Waves should be about 4 feet, lovely and clean, especially in the afternoon. High water will be 7.9m at 4:50pm.

Thursday

Weather

The mist and fog should be a thing of the past, but only because it gets chased away by force 6 SSW’ly winds. Don't worry though, because the wind will simmer down to just force 4-5 by the afternoon, with the sunshine making an appearance between the hours passing shower.

Surf and Tide

Great waves for surfing and windsurfing alike. Waves about 8-10 feet on the west coast and maybe a good 4 feet on the north. Low water will be about 2.3m at 11:40am. High water will be 8.3m at 5:40pm.

Friday

A couple of degrees cooler than the previous days, but lovely and sunny for the most part. With winds from the NNW in the morning, the south coast will be the most gorgeous place to hang out. Then it will be all about the other coasts when winds switch SW’ly in the late afternoon.

Weather

Surf and Tide

A great south coast morning, with about 4-5 feet of swell down there. Then head to the west coast in the late afternoon, to find some proper chunky gems on all the reefs around Vazon. Low water 1.8m just after midday. Highs of 8.7m shortly before dawn and after dusk.

The Weekend

A weekend of two halves, with Saturday just as sunny as Friday. The SSW wind a fair bit stronger, but the temperature a degree or two higher. Sunday will be the cloudier and wetter day, with soggy air coming in from the WSW. There could be some foggy moments up at the airport, but nothing particularly prolonged, so probably not too troublesome. Solid surf on both days, with the best quality waves probably on Saturday morning.

Next Week

A very similar week to the current one. Winds coming from somewhere between S and W every day, so sometimes dry and bright, sometimes damp and dreary but always very mild.
