Monday
Weather
We are in for some very repetitive weather this week, but I'm sure you'll be happy to hear that it's dry and relatively calm, with light to moderate ENE’ly breeze bringing a steady feed of cool continental air. The daily variations will simply be about cloud amounts and therefore the max and min temperatures. For Monday we are looking at more cloud than on Sunday, but still plenty of long sunny or clear spells. The max should be 8C, which will certainly make warrant hats and gloves etc, when you factor in the wind-chill. To avoid the breeze and feel that little bit warmer, head down to the lovely south coast cliff-paths.
Surf and Tide
Cleanish waves of about 2-3 feet, in some corners of the west coast bays. The cleanest waves will certainly be the little ones on the south coast though, especially at Petit Port shortly before sunset. High tide will be 7.2m high at 2:50pm.
Tuesday
Weather
After a chilly night, with a min temp of about 4C, we could be in for a slightly cloudier day with marginally less sunshine. Furthermore, with ever-cooler air streaming in from Eastern Europe, we will probably only reach a max of 7C.
Surf and Tide
Cleaner west coast waves on this day, as well as a much stronger 5-6 foot swell. The afternoon will clearly be best, with high water being 7.4m at 4pm.
Wednesday
Weather
After another chilly night, with a min temp of about 3-4C, we should bounce back to a slightly sunnier day again, with temperatures nudging up to 8C or possibly even 9C if we’re lucky.
Surf and Tide
Lovely clean west-coast waves again, but dropping off to a more modest 3 feet. High water will be 7.7m at 5pm.
Thursday and Friday
Thursday probably won't feel any different to the previous days, but changes will be afoot. The breeze will back to a SE’ly direction, as the high pressure system which is responsible for this lovely settled weather, wanders eastwards and prepares to depart. On Friday, the high pressure system will make its departure and a fresh SW’ly wind will bring in milder moister air. Skies will be much cloudier than previous days, but we should remain dry and temperatures should peak at 10C.
The Weekend
It might not be until late on Sunday, but I'm pretty sure that we will see the return of the wet stuff before the weekend is through. However, before that arrives, our weather should be much like Fridays, i.e. cloudy but mild. In the surf, we should see two days of fairly clean 3-foot swell on the west coast, with tides of about 9m shortly before dawn and after dusk.
The next forecast update should be with you on Tuesday evening.
