Monday
Weather
Sunday’s mizzly gloom will pester us for another day, as a very slow-moving weather-front continues to wobble around the Channel. Sometimes (particularly during the afternoon), the murk will intensify into some fairly heavy rain, making for some pretty large puddles by the time of the evening rush hour. During the evening, a fresh to strong NW’ly wind will bring much cooler and cleaner air to the islands, giving us a mainly starry night, with just the odd blustery shower sweeping through from time to time.
Surf and Tide
Some really solid surf at Vazon this morning, probably better up at L’Ancresse if you like it a bit smaller. Then, when the wind changes in the afternoon, go and have a look at Petit Bot. Send me a photo if you find something special. High water today, is just a tiddly 6.8m at half past midday.
Tuesday
Weather
The blustery showers will persist through the morning, although they will be pretty few and far between. The afternoon should just be sunny though, with the most comfortable conditions being on the south coast, where the cliffs will act as a windbreak.
Surf and Tide
It will be down to the south coast again, to find a clean wave (albeit a far from perfect novelty). Petit Bot will be the go in the morning and then Petit Port in the late afternoon. The tidal movements very small again, with just a 6.7m high at 2pm.
Wednesday
Weather
The first of three super sunny and totally dry days. With high pressure almost directly overhead, winds will be light and variable in direction. So all parts should feel equally pleasant, although only peaking at 8 or 9C.
Surf and Tide
Much cleaner waves on the west coast. However, they will be much smaller too. The biggest of them will be about 2-3 feet on the more serious high-tide reefs. The sand-bottom waves at Vazon will be about 1-2 feet and probably best around lunchtime. High water, about 6.9m at 3:20pm.
Thursday and Friday
A couple of gorgeous sunny ones, with winds now coming from a SE’ly direction. So, on these days the west coast is going to be the place to go, especially around sunset. Don't forget your jackets though, because we are still only expecting 8-9C maxima, and the overnight periods will probably be cold enough for ground frosts.
The Weekend
Forecast models are giving mixed signals about whether or not the lovely high pressure system will persist through the weekend, or whether it will get pushed southwards, allowing a wet and windy low pressure system to invade our teritory. At the moment, I'm inclined to think that the fine conditions will last at least through Saturday, but it is very uncertain, so keep an eye on the updates.
The next forecast update should be with you Tuesday evening.
