Monday
Weather
A cloudy old day compared to that fabulous weekend. However, the wind will be lovely and light, until a moderate WNW’ly develops in the afternoon. Furthermore, it will be totally dry until a little rain arrives around midnight. The max temp should be 12°C, which is about 3 degrees cooler than Saturday (but Saturday really was unusually special for late November)
Surf and the Water
The surf will be 1-2 feet and clean in the morning, becoming smaller and messier by the end of the day. As for the best swimming conditions, everywhere will be good for a quick dip in the morning, but Fermain and Havelet will be the clear winners towards dusk. Biggish tides, with highs of roughly 8.7m at 6:10am and 6:30pm.
Tuesday
Weather
A new month and a new season. The previous night’s rain should have cleared southwards by the start of the working day (if not a few hours earlier), leaving us with a dry and bright day, with a gentle N’ly breeze and a max temp of 11°C. Head to the south coast for the absolute best of it.
Surf and the Water
The surf will probably be too tiny and sloppy to be worth a mention on this day, but the south-coast swimming and paddle-boarding conditions should be pretty lovely. Slightly bigger tides, this time with highs of roughly 8.8m at 6:50am and 7:10pm.
Wednesday
Weather
Cloudy but probably dry until a band of showers arrives in the late afternoon. The wind should be a NW’ly, but so light and comfortable that most people won’t even notice it. However, during the night, it will back to a SW’ly direction and strengthen to force 5, with the arrival of persistent rain shortly before dawn.
Surf and the Water
The surf will still be very weak but it might just be clean and rideable. High tide will be roughly 8.8m again, this time at 7:20am, followed by low tide at 1:40pm.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
A very wet and windy day on Thursday. I think we can expect about 10-20mm of rain to have fallen by the end of the day, with the wind starting off as a force 6 SW’ly, eventually veering W’ly, with gusts of 45-50mph along the way. Friday will then be similarly windy, but it will gradually return to a SW’ly direction. As for the rain, it will probably be more showery in nature, possibly with the odd hammering of hail. The temperature fluctuating between about 8°C and 10°C throughout.
Surf and the Water
Biggish cleanish surf on Thursday morning and Friday afternoon, with a horrible choppy mess in between. High tides around breakfast time and low tides in the mid-afternoons.
The Weekend
Weather
This is the most uncertain end of the forecast period, but it’s currently looking as though Saturday will probably stay horribly unsettled, before Sunday becomes dry and much calmer. Both days are set to be rather cold though, with temperatures struggling to exceed 9°C at any point.
Surf and the Water
The surf forecast is very uncertain in terms of quality but we can be pretty sure about the quantity; most likely 6-8 feet on Saturday, dropping off to about 4 feet on Sunday. Medium sized tides, with highs in the mid-mornings and lows around dusk,
The next forecast update will be with you on either Tuesday or Wednesday.
