Friday
Weather
The gentle NNE’ly breeze will bring increasingly dry air so, with the exception of some pretty mist patches around dawn, we should see nothing but sunny skies by day and starry skies by night. The temperature reaching a comfortable max of 10°C and then a chilly minimum of 2-3°C with a ground-frost.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast waves will be 3-5 feet in the morning, dropping off to 2-4 feet in the afternoon, there might also be some rideable ripples at south-coast spots like Petite Port. Generally, however, the south coast water will be super-smooth and therefore particularly suitable for swimming. Spring tides will be upon us, with highs of about 8.5m at dawn and dusk, and low water at lunchtime.
Saturday
Weather
Pretty much a re-run of Friday’s fine conditions; just a small wind-change to a moderate ENE’ly. During the daytime, our thermometers should climb to the same 10°C max, although the breeze might make it feel a tad chillier. However, during the night-time, the wind will have the opposite effect, strengthening to fresh force 5, it will prevent the temperature from falling any lower than 6°C.
Surf and the Water
A fresh pulse of clean swell, with the west-coast waves picking up from 3-5 feet in the morning to 5-7 feet in the afternoon. Once again, there could be some little gems along the south coast too. This time the high tides will be about 9m shortly after dawn and dusk, and low tide will be at lunchtime again.
Sunday
Weather
Same again, no change in the temperature or the super sunny/starry skies, but a stronger wind than the previous day, this time a force 5 ENE’ly. This wind will have a decidedly chilly feel, so it will be well worth seeking some shelter; Petit Port, Joannet Bay and L’Eree will probably offer the best.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be pretty clean again, although the wind will be slightly more challenging to paddle against. Wave heights probably 5 feet in the morning, dropping off to 4 feet in the afternoon. As for the tides; the highs will be about 9.4m at 7:20am and 7:50pm; low water will be about 0.7m at 1:50pm.
Monday to Wednesday
Weather
No great shakes to the lovely dry and sunny weather. There will be some high cloud though, which will give the sunshine a hazy milky effect. As for the temperature, well that’s going to climb to 11 or 12°C during the afternoons, thanks to a moderate SE’ly breeze bringing air from a slightly milder origin.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean 3-4 foot surf on Monday, dropping off to 2-3 feet on Tuesday and Wednesday. The north and west coasts will offer the best swimming conditions. Very high tides at breakfast time and very low tides in the mid-afternoons.
The rest of Next Week
Weather
Likely staying dry but becoming a bit cooler and cloudier, as we resume a fresh ENE’ly wind.
Surf and the Water
Clean 2 feet west-coast waves for the most part. The tides will still be fairly large but they will gradually taper away, with late morning highs of about 8.9m on Thursday and about 8.2m on Friday.
