Thursday
Weather
A moderate N’ly wind will bring us a cloudy but probably dry day. There will be some rain over Normandy, which could possibly drift further west from time to time, but it’s not currently expected to do that. However, whether it’s dry or not, it is going to feel rather chilly, with the temperature climbing no higher than 9°C.
Surf and the Water
A few slight changes in the surf… a slightly stronger swell than on Wednesday, but slightly choppier due to a stronger cross-shore wind. The south-coast swimming conditions will be lovely as ever though, especially at Saints Bay for high water at breakfast-time, and especially at Moulin Huet for the afternoon low.
Friday
Weather
The wind will veer NE’ly and strengthen to fresh force 5 or strong force 6, which is going to add an extra chilly feeling to the already low temperature (7-8°C). As for the weather, we are probably looking at a cloudy morning with a couple of showers here and there, followed by a dry and increasingly sunny afternoon. If you’re looking for the good location for a walk or a run, then the south-coast cliff-paths will probably be top of the charts.
Surf and the Water
Surfers might find some surfable onshore slop at Pembroke, but the 3-4 foot west-coast waves will probably be of marginally higher quality. And if it’s swimming you’re interested, then simply head to the south coast to find some really smooth water. High tide will be about 7.8m at 9:40am and low water will be ab out 2.6m at 3:50pm.
The Weekend
Weather
Saturday’s temperature won’t be any higher than Friday’s but it should feel much more pleasant, as we enjoy lots of sunshine and the NE’ly wind falls slack. Sunday won’t feel so great though, as the skies turn cloudy, and a moderate NW’ly wind blows occasional showers through the area.
Surf and the Water
With small high tides in the late mornings, the surf will be rideable at just about any time; 3-4 feet and fairly clean on Saturday, 2-3 feet and sloppy on Sunday.
Next Week
The surf will be virtually flat on Monday, picking up to a clean 2-3 feet by Wednesday, then possibly growing as large as 4-5 feet by Friday. As for the swimming, well with mainly S’ly winds, it’s going to be the west and north coasts that offer the smoothest conditions, especially at the times of high water, which will be around lunchtime at the start of the week, nudging along to late afternoon by the end of the week.
The next forecast update will be on Friday evening…
