Saturday
Weather
Friday’s fabulous sunshine should stick around for Saturday morning and for the first half of the afternoon, and the N’ly wind will be much lighter, so it ought to feel much warmer, even if the mercury doesn’t climb any higher than 9-10°C. All parts of the island should be lovely, but the warmest feelings will certainly be down on the south coast around lunchtime. Going through the night, the skies will be cloudy, meaning that the temperature won’t fall nearly as low as it did on Friday night (7-8°C rather than 3-4°C), so it’s highly unlikely that we will get any ground-frost.
Surf and the Water
Well Saturday should be blessed with the same 3-4 feet swell as Friday was, but it won’t be quite as cursed by the cross-shore wind. As for the swimming condition, the south-coast will be best again, but the other coasts should be significantly less choppy than on Friday. High water will be roughly 7.2m at 10:!0am, then low water will be roughly 3.1m at 4:20pm.
Sunday
Weather
The skies will stay cloudy all day. That cloud occasionally cracking open, to reveal a slither of sunlight, and occasionally thickening up enough to give a spit or spot of light rain (barely noticeable really). Once again, the wind will be N’ly, but it will pick up to moderate force 4 on this day. The temperature peaking at 9-10°C, just like on Saturday, but this time feeling a little more chilly.
Surf and the Water
The waves will reduce to 2-3 feet and the cross-shore wind will be a fraction stronger, so this is definitely not looking like the best day for surfers. However, if you head down to the south coast then it should be lovely and smooth for swimming. As for the tidal range, that will be very small indeed, with a high of roughly 6.8m at 10:40am.
Monday and Tuesday
Weather
The N’ly wind will fall light on Monday and then back to a S’ly direction overnight, before strengthening to moderate force 4 on Tuesday. We will see very little change in the weather whilst this is happening (generally cloudy and dry) but we will see a small rise in temperature, with a likely max of 10-11°C on Tuesday.
Surf and the Water
Teeny weeny surf, but it will be clean and it might just be big enough for a fun session on a longboard or an SUP. As for the swimming conditions, they will be generally be good on all coasts on both days, except for on Tuesday when the south coast will be a bit choppy. The tidal range staying very small indeed, with just a hint of high water around lunchtime, and a mere gesture towards low water at dawn and dusk.
The Rest of Next Week
Weather
With the wind direction either staying S’ly or veering SW’ly, we can expect the temperature to reach daily maxima of 11-12°C. Wednesday could well be quite sunny but, with a low pressure system encroaching from the Atlantic, it looks as though Thursday and Friday will be cloudy and quite possibly wet as well.
Surf and the Water
Clean surf throughout, picking up from a good 3 feet on Wednesday to an excellent 4-5 feet on Thursday, and perhaps bigger on Friday. Just like on Tuesday, all coasts should be smooth enough for swimming except for the south coast. The tidal range will start to increase again, with the highest high being slightly over 8m shortly before dusk on Friday.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
