Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Monday 22/03/2021

Monday

Weather

A few days ago, this was just looking cloudy and gloomy, but it’s now looking like a pretty nice spring day, with a rather cloudy morning but then lots of sunshine in the afternoon. Furthermore, with barely a breath of wind, the 10-11°C max temperature will actually feel pretty warm. The night time is looking quite cold though, with a min of 3-4°C and a ground-frost likely.

Surf and the Water

Teeny weeny surf, but it will be really clean and it might just be big enough for a fun session on a longboard or an SUP. As for the swimming conditions, they will be great on all coasts. The tidal range staying very small indeed, with just a hint of high water shortly before noon, and a mere gesture towards low water around dawn and dusk.

Tuesday

Weather

Super-sunny all day, but this will be offset slightly by a moderate force 4 S’ly wind. The net effect being that the temperature and general spring-feeling will be about the same as on Monday. The west coast bays will probably be the loveliest places to take a walk, with the small tides meaning that the beaches stay sandy right through high tide, and the sea-wall will give you some shelter from that breeze.

Surf and the Water

The surf will most probably be flat, but if there are some knee-high peelers then they will certainly be nice and clean again. If you are swimming, then it’s probably going to be nicest on the north and west coasts, especially around lunchtime, during the very small high tide.

Wednesday to Friday

Weather

The more unsettled end of the week, but really not too bad. Wednesday will have a moderate force 4 SW’ly wind, which will increase to fresh force 5 on Thursday. Both days will have sunny mornings followed be cloudier afternoons with occasional showers. The temperature peaking at about 11-12°C by day and falling to about 7-8°C overnight. Moving on to Friday, it’s going to feel a bit colder, as the wind increases to a strong force 6 W’ly and the showers become more frequent and perhaps a bit heavier.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be pretty clean on Wednesday, really clean on Thursday and then very choppy on Friday. How big will those waves be?... 2-4 feet and really fun on Wednesday and Thursday, then picking up to over 6 feet when it turns messy on Friday. The tides will be getting bigger each day, until we see a high of over 8m at 5:10pm on Friday.

The Weekend

Weather

It’s looking good, as the wind is going to back to a moderate S’ly, bringing dry weather, sunshine and higher temperatures (probably peaking at 13°C on Saturday and then 14-15°C on Sunday).

Surf and the Water

Big, clean surf on both days. Big tides too, with highs of just under 9m around dawn and dusk on Saturday, then just over 9m shortly after dawn and dusk on Sunday.

The next forecast update will be on Thursday morning...
