Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Thursday 25/03/2021

Thursday

Weather

Sunshine and showers, with the sunshine likely to be most abundant in the morning, and the showers a bit more frequent in the afternoon. Neither heavy or prolonged though, so not really having much impact. The wind a bit fresher than the previous days though (force 4-5 SSW’ly) so it will feel chillier, even though the temperature will be about the same.

Surf and the Water

Clean 2-4 feet surf, with a small tidal range meaning that it will be rideable for the vast majority of the day. Low water will be late morning and high water will be late afternoon. High water will probably be best for swimmers (on all coasts except the south).

Friday

Weather

The showers will be more frequent and heavy on this day, some of them rather squally, perhaps with the sting of a few hail-stones. The wind picking up from a force 5 SSW’ly in the morning to a gusty force 6 W’ly in the afternoon and overnight. Max temp only 10-11°C and feeling even cooler because of the wind.

Surf and the Water

A good day for windsurfers and kite-surfers. As for the waves, they will still be 3 feet and clean in the morning, but they will get bigger and become very choppy in the afternoon. The tidal range getting a bit bigger now, with a low of about 2.2m at 11:10am and a high of just over 8m at 5:10pm. If you are swimming, then it will be best to head to Fermain towards high tide.

The Weekend

Weather

There might just be a couple of light showers on Saturday morning, but the weekend should be dry apart from that, with a mixed bag of cloudy spells and hazy sunshine. Saturday will probably see a max temp of 11-12°C with a moderate WSW’ly wind, then Sunday’s max will probably be a degree or two higher, but you won’t notice the difference, because the wind will freshen up to a force 5 SSW’ly.

Surf and the Water

The tides will be low at lunchtime and high around dawn and dusk (a little under 9m on Saturday, then a little over 9m on Sunday). As for the surf; lovely and clean on both days; 6-7 feet on Saturday, then 4-5 feet on Sunday.

Next Week

Weather

With a slight increase in sunshine and a slight reduction in wind, Monday’s temperature should climb to at least 13°C. Then Tuesday should go all the way to 15 or perhaps even 16°C as we see unbroken sunshine and hardly any wind at all. Wednesday might be almost as lovely as Tuesday, but it is more likely to be a halfway house, as Thursday and Friday are both looking likely to be wet and windy again.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be about 3-5 feet throughout the week; really clean Monday to Wednesday, then probably very messy on Thursday and Friday. Big tides throughout the week, with highs of almost 10m on Monday and Tuesday, dropping off to about 9m by Friday.

The next forecast update will be on Friday…
