Wednesday
Weather
That big swathe of rain and drizzle that took out the back-end of Tuesday, will sit over Northern France all day, gradually fizzling away to nothing. While it’s sitting there, it will throw quite a lot of cloud in our direction and this means that we will have to wait another day to get the sunshine and the heat that we are all eager for. However, I think everybody will be really happy that the W’ly breeze will only be light force 2 to 3 and that’s really going to feel comfortable compared to recent times. Max temp 14°C.
Surf and the Water
The wind will be onshore at Vazon and the various west-coast reefs, but it will be light enough to keep the waves quite clean; 4 feet in the morning dropping to 2 feet by late evening. Big tides, with highs of 9.4m at 7:10am and 9.5m at 7:30pm.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
And finally we capture a couple of days that befit the month of May. Last May, with such average max temps of about 16 to 17°C, we might have been a bit disappointed, but this year it’s definitely a cause for celebration. Yes indeed, it’s going to feel gorgeous in all parts when the wind is virtually flat calm on Thursday. And then on Friday, the ENE’ly will be a light force 3 and that’s going to feel especially nice on the south and west coasts. Both days will be totally dry, with lots of hazy sunshine and only a few harmless cloudy spells.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will be 1-3 feet and really clean throughout, but you will have to time your sessions around the very high tides, which will be roughly 9.5m in the early mornings and in the evenings. As for the swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding etc, well thanks to the lack of wind that’s all going to be the best that it’s been for ages.
The Weekend
Weather
Two dry and beautifully sunny days. The temperatures perhaps just a degree lower than on Friday, due to the wind increasing to moderate force 4 and backing to a NNE’ly direction. For the very best beach weather, it’s definitely going to be worth a trip to the south coast, especially during the afternoons when the tide will be low.
Surf and the Water
More 2-3 feet surf, but not as clean as on the previous days due to the cross-shore wind. However, the swimming conditions will be as beautiful as you can imagine down at the south coast coves and beaches. High tides in the mid-mornings, low tides in the mid-late afternoons.
Next Week
Weather
A much more settled week of weather to start the month of June, with temperatures likely to pick up to the very high teens or possibly even hit the magic 20°C. The daily variations will all depend on the quirks of cloud amount and the direction of the breeze. However, with the Jetstream now shifted nicely to the north, the weather doesn’t look likely to turn wet or windy at any point.
Surf and the Water
The surf will most likely stay in the 1-3 foot range and be mostly clean. Furthermore, with the tidal range becoming small, there should be plenty of opportunities to catch waves at any time of day.
The next forecast update will be on Thursday or Friday…
