Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Monday 07/06/2021

Monday

Weather

After the clearance of some early morning cloud and mist, we are looking at a dry day with lengthy spells of sunshine and just the gentlest NW’ly breeze. Feeling very pleasant, with a 17°C max temperature in most areas (very similar to Sunday), possibly sneaking up to 18 or 19°C in Town.

Surf and the Water

Glassy 2 foot waves on the west coast, and smooth water for swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding all around the islands. The tidal range will be bigger than at the weekend, with a low of just over 2.5m at 11:50am followed by a high of 7.9m at 5:40pm.

Tuesday

Weather

More sunshine hours than on Monday, and probably brighter sunshine too, leading to widespread max temps of 18-19°C (maybe even the magic 20°C in some spots). The NNW’ly breeze will be so light that you can barely feel it, making it a pretty fantastic beach day, but watch out for sunburn again, as the UV index will be as high as 8 during the middle of the day.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast surf will be 1-2 feet and clean in the morning, picking up to 3 feet through the afternoon and evening. As for the swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding; well that’s going to be gorgeous in every part of the island, so the tide will really be the only factor when deciding where to go… highs of about 7.9m at 6:10am and 7.1m at 6:20pm; low water at lunchtime.

Wednesday to Friday

Weather

The average to warm temperatures are set to continue as we hang on to dry and settled weather, with only a little variation in wind direction and cloud amount. Wednesday will probably see the sunniest skies, whilst the wind backs to a gentle W’ly direction. Then, through Thursday and Friday, as this wind then wobbles between a WSW’ly and a WNW’ly, we will probably see some cloudy skies and perhaps the odd spell of sea-mist or hill-fog. The finest conditions will generally be on the east coast will, so Town will probably scoop the daily max temperatures of 18-20°C.

Surf and the Water

The run of clean 2-3 foot surf is set to continue on the west coast, and yet more lovely conditions are expected for sea-swimmers, kayakers and paddle-boarders (especially along the east coast in the evenings). The tides will generally be high around breakfast time and dinner time (8.3m-8.5m), and they will be low in the early afternoons.

The Weekend

Weather

Dry, sunny and even warmer than during the week. The most likely maxima being 20°C on Saturday, then 22°C on Sunday. The breeze just a gentle N’ly, meaning that the south-coast beaches will be the warmest, especially in the afternoons, when the tide is low and the beaches are big and sandy.

Surf and the Water

More fun-size surf on the west coast, and lovely smooth water on the south coast for other activities such as kayaking and coasteering. Medium-large tidal movements, with highs in the mid-mornings and lows in the mid-afternoons.

The next forecast update will be on Tuesday…
