Guernsey Weather Fox

7+day Forecast. Starting Wednesday 09/06/2021

Wednesday

Weather

Another prime summer’s day, with sunshine for the majority of the day, and just the odd cloudy spell to keep a lid on things. The temperature should peak at around 20°C in most parts of the island, but considering that Town will be completely unaffected by the light W’ly breeze, it might just sneak up to 21°C there. Overnight, the skies will become more cloudy and perhaps misty, which means that it’s going to feel pretty muggy with the temperature only falling to 13 or 14°C.

Surf and the Water

Glassy 3 foot waves on the west coast in the morning, dropping off to a more choppy 2 foot by evening. Lovely smooth water for swimming and other activities… all around the islands in the morning, then becoming confined to the east and south coasts in the afternoon and evening. High tides at breakfast time and dinner time. Low tide at lunchtime.

Thursday

Weather

Cloudy for the most part, with some mist and fog likely at times. That is until late afternoon, when the gentle SW’ly breeze will change to a gentle NW’ly, allowing the cloud to break up and let a little sunshine through. Max temp… 17°C in most parts but 18°C in Town. Muggy again overnight, with another min of 13-14°C.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast surf will be 2 feet and clean for most of the day, then become a bit choppy towards evening. As for the smooth water activities; just like the previous day, all coasts should be good until late into the day, but it would be best to stick to the east and south coasts during the evening. Once again, the tide will be high at breakfast time and dinner time and it will be low at lunchtime.

Friday and the Weekend

Weather

Friday looks set to be very similar to Thursday, with a murky morning followed by a brightening afternoon. This time however, the breeze should carry on veering through the night, until it reaches a NNE’ly direction, which will then bring a much drier airflow through Saturday, so we can expect lots more sunshine on that day. Moving on to Sunday, the breeze will veer even further to an ENE’ly, which means that we shall import a little continental heat and probably have our hottest day of this week. Friday’s top temp 18-19°C, Saturday’s top temp 19-20°C, then Sunday’s top temp 21-22°C.

Surf and the Water

The tides will be a little bit later each day, until Sunday’s highs are around mid-morning and dusk. As for the surf, most of it will be 2-3 feet and clean but rather weak. However, on Friday evening and through Saturday, we should see a pulse of stronger 4-5 foot waves.

Next Week

Weather

Most days are looking dry, sunny and perhaps even warmer than this week. The most likely daily maxima being around 22°C, except on Wednesday, which is currently the only day that threatens to be cloudy and wet. The breeze just a gentle N’ly or NE’ly on most days.

Surf and the Water

Medium-small tidal movements, with the time of high water creeping a little bit later each day, until we have lunchtime highs on Thursday and Friday. As for the surf, it looks as though we should maintain this run of clean rideable waves, mostly small and rather weak but occasionally medium-sized and a bit more powerful.

The next forecast update will be on Thursday or Friday…
