Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Saturday 12/06/2021

Saturday

Weather

There might be a little mist to accompany the early morning cloud. However, it’s not going to be nearly as murky as the previous days, thanks to the fact that the gentle breeze will be coming from the NW rather than the SW. By late morning, the air will be sufficiently dry for the cloud to break up, and for the land to warm up in the soft sunshine. By mid-afternoon, these processes will reinforce each other to the point that we are bathing in bright sunshine, with a top temperature of around 19-20°C in most parts of the island, perhaps 21°C in Town. Then overnight, under starry skies, the temperature will fall to a slightly more comfortable 13°C.

Surf and the Water

Clean 3-4 foot waves on the west coast, and lovely conditions for smooth-water activity in all other parts of the island. Medium-large tide, with high water at 8:30am and low water 2:50pm.

Sunday

Weather

A proper sunny day, with a gentle E’ly breeze adding a little continental heat to an already warm situation. Most likely max temp… 22-23°C in the late afternoon/early evening again. Then gradually becoming more refreshing overnight, with another min temp of 13°C.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast surf will be 2-3 feet and clean and the swimming/paddle-boarding will be particularly gorgeous in that area too. Medium-large tide, with high water at 9am and low water 3:20pm.

Monday and Tuesday

Weather

These days will be lovely and warm, thanks to virtually unbroken sunshine. Monday will probably be a couple of degrees cooler than Sunday because the gentle NW’ly breeze won’t have any of that continental influence. However, with the breeze veering to a NE’ly direction on Tuesday, we will probably nudge a degree higher. The south coast will most likely be the warmest area on both days, with a max of 21°C on Monday and 22°C on Tuesday.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast surf will be 2-3 feet and relatively clean due to the winds being so light. Swimming and other smooth-water activities will be good in most areas, but especially nice along the south coast. Medium-sized tidal movements, with highs in the late mornings and lows in the late afternoons.

The Rest of Next Week

Weather

Wednesday will probably be as warm as Tuesday, but cloud will develop through the afternoon until showers (possibly thundery) break out in the evening. This will cause a bit of a turn-around in the temperature trend, with Thursday’s and Friday’s maxima returning to the high teens. There is a chance of the odd shower on those days too, but it’s only the slimmest chance, so gardeners will probably be doing the rounds with the watering can again.

Surf and the Water

Big swell, thanks to a deep low-pressure system in the North Atlantic slightly earlier in the week. Medium-small tidal movements, with highs in around noon and lows around dinner time.

The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
