Monday
Weather
Sunday might have been cloudy but the air was warm, thanks to a SE’ly breeze off the continent. Monday’s air, with the breeze veering W’ly, will become moist before it really cools down. This means that we are in for a bit of a misty and murky one, not really becoming clear or bright until the late afternoon or evening, when a slightly stronger NW’ly wind kicks in. For the warmest condition, Town and Fermain will probably be best for the majority of the day. However, come evening time, it will also be nice to head south to the likes of Petit Port, Saints or Moulin Huet.
Surf and the Water
The swimming conditions will be nicest on the east and south coasts. Over on the west coast we will see a building swell, but unfortunately the waves will be getting messier throughout the day, as the onshore wind strengthens. High water will be at 9am and 9:10pm. Low water will be at 3:10pm.
Tuesday and Wednesday
Weather
Some of Monday night’s showers might well eat into Tuesday morning, but the rest of these two days should remain dry. Furthermore, there should only really be a few bubbles of cloud here and there, with large swathes of clear sky always tending to dominate. The temperature isn’t going to soar though, due to a force 4-5 NW’ly wind, bringing relatively cool air from the mid-Atlantic. The most likely maxima will be 18-19°C in most areas, but it might well sneak up to 20°C in Town.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will be 3-4 feet and choppy on Tuesday, then 2-3 feet and perhaps even more choppy on Wednesday. However, the wind ought to be strong enough to give the kite-surfers a bit of fun, and of course the swimmers will be enjoying the south and east coast bays again. High tides will be mid-morning, low tides will be mid-afternoons.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Two lovely sunny days, with a gradual increase in temperature. Thursday will have a top temp of about 20°C with a moderate N’ly wind. Then Friday should go all the way to 21 or 22°C, as the wind shifts to just a gentle NE’ly.
Surf and the Water
Teeny little waves on the west coast, but probably big enough for kiddies to enjoy; rather choppy on Thursday but pretty clean and shapely on Friday. As for the Swimming and paddle-boarding, The south coast will certainly be the smoothest area on both days, but the west coast should also be pretty silky on Friday. High tides will be late morning, low tides will be late afternoons.
The Weekend
Weather
Two more days of brilliant sunshine, as we hang on to a gentle ENE’ly wind and probably see the temperature increase by at least a degree per day. Not much more to say than that, except don’t forget to slap on plenty of sun-cream and have lots and lots of fun (I think we all deserve it).
Surf and the Water
The west coast surf will be very small (if not flat), but whatever we get will be lovely and clean. Medium-sized tides, with highs at lunchtime (the perfect time for a bit of swimming, jumping diving and all that kind of fun).
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday…
