Guernsey Weather Fox

6-day Forecast. Starting Tuesday 20/07/2021

Tuesday and Wednesday

Weather

Just as hot as Monday, so that’s about 26 or 27°C for the maxima and 16 or 17°C for the minima. The sky sunny and blue (max UV of 8) for the majority of both days, with the only cloudy time expected towards the end of Wednesday. The gentle breeze an E’ly in the mornings, backing to a NE’ly in the afternoons and evenings. If all this heat is a bit much for you, then head to the north or east coasts, where the breeze will be onshore and things won’t feel quite so steamy.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast surf will be flat for surfers but idyllic for swimmers and paddlers. Then, in the afternoon, the south coast will be equally gorgeous. Tuesday’s high tide will be about 7.6m at 3:50pm, then Wednesday’s high will be about 8m at 5:10pm.

Thursday and Friday

Weather

Both days very humid and a bit more cloudy than of late. However, there will still be enough hazy sunshine to give daily maxima of at least 25°C and the UV index will still be high enough to give rather rapid sunburn during the middle part of each day. The wind direction will be the same as the previous days, but it will be a little bit stronger, so the temperature difference will be even more noticeable, between the cooler northeast and the hotter southwest. The other thing to mention is the threat of a thundery shower or two, drifting over from France… The first chance will be fairly slim on Thursday evening and night, then the second (much greater) chance will be on Friday evening and night. As with all thunderstorms, they might just pass by in the distance, but if they do hit the islands then they could easily drench us with about 10mm of rainfall.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast surf will be flat on Thursday, picking up to a clean and probably rideable 1-2 feet on Friday. Big tides, with highs around breakfast time and dinner time.

The Weekend

Weather

It’s all looking a bit more down-to-earth, with gentle SW’ly breezes bringing more modest temperatures (peaking each day at 20 or 21°C). As for the weather… a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine, with only the most isolated of showers and no further threat of thunder.

Surf and the Water

The west coast surf forecast is very uncertain. No chance of anything large I’m afraid, it’s just unclear whether it will be flat or about 1-2 feet and rideable. As for the swimming, this time the south coast will not be so great but all other coasts should be lovely (especially the east). Big tides continuing, with highs around breakfast time and dinner time.

The next forecast update will be on Thursday…
