Thursday
Weather
Sunny but windy in the morning, becoming cloudy but almost calm by evening. That wind being a moderate force 4 WSW'ly, gradually backing to a light force 2 S’ly. The late afternoon will probably be the most comfortable moment, when the temperature reaches a widespread max of 19-20°C. Moving further into the evening, the thickening cloud will start to produce a few showers and there’s a chance that these could turn briefly heavy before clearing around midnight.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 3-4 foot west-coast surf in the morning, turning to super-clean 2 foot surf in the evening. If you’re heading in for an early swim then the best options will be Fermain and Havelet. However, if you’re going for a late one then all coasts will be equally smooth and glassy. A medium-sized tidal range, with high water at 11am and low water at 5:20pm.
Friday
Weather
Dry sunny and very windy again (starting in the small hours of the morning, so take note if you’re camping or if you’ve left loose objects in the garden). That wind being a strong force 6 W’ly for the most part, meaning that Town and sheltered eastern spots will be warmest, scooping the max temp of 19-20°C.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 5-6 foot waves on the west-coast surf, and smooth swimming conditions in the east. Most of all, it will be an epic day for windsurfing and kite-surfing, especially during the morning. A medium-sized tidal range, with high water at 11:30am and low water at 5:50pm.
The Weekend
Weather
Just the small chance of a shower early Saturday morning, then a greater risk on Sunday evening. Otherwise dry and mostly sunny, with changes in the wind leading to differences in temperature… Saturday with a moderate W’ly and a max temp of 20°C in Town; Sunday with a very light SE’ly and a widespread max of 21°C.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 4 foot surf on Saturday, followed by clean 2 foot surf on Sunday. Smooth swimming conditions on the east coast on Saturday, followed by great conditions on all coasts on Sunday. A small tidal range with highs at lunchtime, and lows at breakfast and dinner time.
Next Week
Weather
Perhaps a couple of degrees warmer than the current week, but I’m afraid the weather still looks relatively unsettled for summer. The timings and details are always uncertain when we are talking about the development and progression of Atlantic low-pressure systems. However, in broad-brush terms, I can say that the first half of the week will probably have the driest weather and the lightest winds. By contrast, the latest weather charts for the second half of the week look much more typical of late Autumn than late summer.
Surf and the Water
Generally smooth in the first half of the week and rough in the second. The tidal range very small for the most part, with lows in the mornings and highs in the afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Saturday evening…
