Wednesday
Weather
Light to moderate W’ly breezes will bring a rather bland grey day, with a max temp of 18°C in most areas and 19°C in Town. Occasionally the cloud will thicken up enough to squeeze out some light drizzle. However, from time to time (mainly late afternoon and evening) the cloud will thin a bit to allow a little brightness to peep through.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will be virtually flat, but young kids will still manage to ride the odd ripple and enjoy it. The east coast will certainly be best for swimming. Low water will be about 3.4m at 9:20 am. High water will be about 7.3m at 3:50pm.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
The finer end of the week by a long shot. Thursday will only take a small step forward because there will still be quite a lot of cloud and the odd drizzly shower though the first half of the day. However, the wind will back to a light SW’ly and this will bring slightly warmer air over the island, allowing the temperature to rise to about 20°C during any late afternoon sunshine. Moving on to Friday, the breeze will change to an even lighter SE’ly, bringing hazy sunshine and a nice little dose of French heat (22°C for the max).
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will remain tiny, if not completely flat, but all coasts will be fabulous for smooth-water activity like swimming and paddle-boarding. The tidal range will be medium-sized, with low water in the late mornings and high water around dinner-time.
The Weekend
A weekend of two halves. Saturday, with the SE’ly airflow continuing to bring warm hazy sunshine, the temperature should nudge up to a max of 22°C, before showers break out in the late afternoon and evening (there’s a chance that those showers could be heavy and thundery). Then, on Sunday, despite plenty of sunshine, it will be back down to earth with a moderate WSW’ly wind and a max temp of just 20°C or possibly 21°C in Town.
Surf and the Water
By Sunday, the west-coast surf should be rideable, although it will only be about 2-feet and mushy. The west and north coasts will probably be the loveliest for swimming on Saturday, and then the east coast will be best on Sunday. The tidal range will pick up to medium-large, with low tides around lunchtime and highs around dinner time.
Next Week
We are likely to see a whole mix of cloud days, sunny days and evenly mixed days. However, because low-pressure systems will always be a good distance away from the islands, they will probably all be dry days. The wind will veer NE’ly by Tuesday and remain there for the week, meaning that the south coast will always be the warmest part of the island; moderate winds Monday and Tuesday (giving daily max temps of about 20°C); then light breezes Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (maybe, just maybe, taking daily maxima as high as 23°C).
Surf and the Water
Spring tides all week, with highs of over 9m Monday to Wednesday, dropping off to around 8.5m by Friday. The best places for swimming will always be along the south coast, although the west coast will be lovely at times too (especially later in the week). As for the surfing… it’s looking pretty tiny at the moment, at least through the first half of the week. However, there’s a chance that some Tropical Storm development across the pond, might just send us some clean powerful swell towards the end of the week (very low confidence at the moment).
The next forecast update will be on Friday…
