Wednesday
Weather
The thundery showers will be in the area by dawn, moving from south to north, many of them will tend to pass by on the horizon but quite a few are likely to move overhead and I’m feeling quite confident that we will see as much as 10mm of rain by the end of the day (quite possibly as much as 20mm). There will be plenty of dry interludes though, some of them misty and murky, some of them quite bright and prolonged, lifting the temperature from around 19°C at dawn to a likely max of about 21 or 22°C. Whilst all this is happening, the wind will be mostly light and variable in direction, but there could be some strong and very erratic gusts around showers.
Surf and the Water
That little pulse of surf is over I’m afraid, but the swimming conditions will be lovely on all coasts providing there are no thunderstorms on the doorstep. Keep an eye on it. High tide will about 9.2m at 8:20am and 9.6m at 8:30pm.
Thursday
Weather
Rather cloudy but mostly dry and bright. Just a couple of showers here and there, most likely in the early morning and then again in the evening. Those showers much much lighter than on Wednesday and certainly without any thunder. The wind just a gentle SSW’ly, so feeling comfortable just about everywhere and probably warmest in Town, where the temperature will peak at 20-21°C. As for the air display, it certainly isn’t looking like a perfect blue sky, but there should be enough cloud-breaks to still put on a good show.
Surf and the Water
Once again, the surf forecast is flat but the swimming conditions are looking lovely and smooth on all coasts except the south. High tide will about 9.4m at 9am and 9.6m at 9:10pm.
Friday
Weather
This one’s probably going to be a dry and sunny one, with force 3-4 W’ly breezes. Therefore, Town and other sheltered eastern spots will feel warmest, although temperatures will only peak at a very ordinary figure like 19-20°C.
Surf and the Water
There’s a slim chance of a little pulse of west-coast surf, similar in size to that of Monday night/Tuesday morning (1-2 feet). However, the wind isn’t looking nearly so favourable, so it really isn’t going to be anything to get excited about (if it happens at all). As for the swimming, Fermain is looking like the beach of choice, although Bordeaux should also be pretty lovely during the morning. High water will be about 9.4m at 9:40am, low water will be ab7out 1.2m at 3:50pm.
The Weekend
Weather
It’s still looking as though Saturday will be finer than Sunday, but it’s all very middle-of-the-road compared to the first half of the week. Saturday, pretty much a carbon copy of Friday (see above for those details). Then Sunday, quite a lot cloudier from the outset but probably not turning wet until the mid-afternoon. The force 3-4 breeze will be NW’ly, coming straight from the mid-Atlantic, so temperatures are going to be decidedly average, probably peaking at 19-20°C in Town again.
Surf and the Water
The east-coast swimming still looks lovely (and the south coast too), but it’s very uncertain with respect to the west-coast surf. We can be sure that the onshore breeze will make it rather sloppy and choppy, but it could be big enough to be quite fun. Although confidence is low, the current expectation of the size is about 3-4 feet on Saturday, dropping off to about 2 feet on Sunday. High tides in the late mornings and low tides in the late afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Friday evening…
