Monday
Weather
A cloudy day, but the cloud will be very high, tending to give us white skies rather than grey skies for the most part. Furthermore, there could be the odd crack that lets a little sunshine through, especially in the morning. Winds will be very light and from an E’ly direction, so we should also benefit from some imported French heat, meaning that the temperature sits comfortably between 19°C and 21°C through the majority of the day. Going through the evening and night, rain will come and go, with a few heavier bursts, probably totalling 5-10 mm by dawn Tuesday.
Surf and the Water
Super smooth water for swimming along the west coast, with some 1 foot surf in the morning, as the tide pushes up towards the 11:30am high. Some 2 foot waves will probably be with us by evening, with a slim chance of a few 3 foot sets. However, the tide will be low then (low water at 5:50pm) so the likes of Vazon and Portinfer will probably be better for body-surfing than board-riding.
Tuesday
Weather
Monday night’s rain should continue in showery bursts through the morning, adding at least another 5mm to the puddles and there might even be some thunder and lightning. Then we are looking at a mixture of sunshine and cloudy spells through the rest of the day, with a gentle N’ly breeze and a slightly lower temperature than on Monday (feeling warmest down on the south-coast beaches and cliff-paths).
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will gradually increase from about 3 feet to 5 feet and the waves will have some real power and surge. Although the lulls will be very long between the sets, and the waves won’t be especially tall, the swell will have so much push behind it, that it will also wrap into the south-coast bays like Petit Bot and Petit Port, where the breeze is perfectly offshore. High water will be about 7.4m at lunchtime. Low water will be at breakfast and dinner time.
Wednesday to Friday
Weather
Almost a full day of sunshine is expected for Wednesday, with just a gentle N’ly breeze. The air that this brings to the islands will be marginally cooler than the previous days, so the temperature will probably be a degree lower despite the extra sunshine. It should still feel lovely though, especially along the south coast again. That gentle northerly flow will then continue through Thursday, taking temperatures down another degree, whilst skies turn a little cloudier, ahead of a soggy weather-front on Friday. The timing of that rain is uncertain, but it currently looks likely to be early afternoon, with a moderate S’ly wind ahead of it, and a fresh NW’ly wind behind it.
Surf and the Water
Three more days of well-deserved quality surf… Wednesday 4-5 feet and the onshore wind light enough to be pretty clean, Thursday 2-3 feet and similarly clean, then Friday 1-2 feet and likely very clean in the morning but messy in the afternoon. As for the swimming; the smoothest water will be on the south and east coasts. Small tidal movements, with lows in the mornings and highs in the afternoons.
The Weekend
Weather
Surf and the Water
As a ridge of high pressure topples over the area, we will probably enjoy a sunny Saturday, but a chilly W’ly wind will mean that sheltered eastern parts much more pleasant than the exposed west. Then Sunday will probably see a much milder S’ly flow, but with quite a lot more cloud and maybe even some rain to finish off the day. Max temps probably 18°C and 19°Crespectively.
The next forecast update will be on Tuesday or Wednesday…
