Saturday
Weather
A cracking sunny day, much like Friday, with a gentle E’ly breeze in the morning, backing to a NE’ly direction in the afternoon. The max temp will be 18°C in most parts of the island, but it will generally feel warmest in western parts during the morning and in the southern parts during the afternoon. Through the evening, skies will become cloudier and this will lead to a slightly milder night than Friday night, with the temperature only dropping to a minimum of 12°C.
Surf and the Water
The absolute thumping hurricane swell will gradually simmer down significantly, with wave-heights of around 4-5 feet in the morning and 3-4 feet in the afternoon. As for the swimming, the smoothest water will generally be along the south coast during the afternoon, when the tide will also be super-low. High water 9.6m at 9:10am. Low water 0.9m at 3:30pm.
Sunday
Weather
There will still be plenty of pleasant sunny interludes, but it will generally be a cloudier and slightly breezier day than Saturday (NNE’ly force 3-4). The max temp will probably just be 17°C on this occasion (maybe 18°C in a few south coast spots).
Surf and the Water
Smaller and choppier surf on this day. Still 2-3 feet and very rideable though, particularly for learners and longboarders. Once again, the best swimming conditions will be along the south-coast beaches. High water 9.3m at 9:50am. Low water 1.3m at 4:10pm.
Monday and Tuesday
Weather
A mixed bag of cloudy spells and sunny intervals, along with the very slim risk of a brief light shower at times. Emphasis on the words ‘very slim’, so it’s still going to be a great spell of weather for drying the laundry and for most outdoor jobs/activities. Max temps only 16°C and feeling a bit chilly in places that are exposed to the moderate northerly breeze.
Surf and the Water
Rideable waves, but really nothing special as they will only be 2 feet and somewhat ruined by the cross-shore wind. Once again however, gorgeous swimming conditions at all your favourite south-coast spots. High water in the late mornings (8.7m and 8m respectively) and low water in the late afternoons.
Wednesday to Friday
Weather
Wednesday will be virtually the same as Monday and Tuesday in terms of weather and temperature. However, the wind will fall very light and variable as the high pressure system passes almost directly overhead. Then through Thursday and Friday, the high will be centred over France, meaning that the Channel Islands experience a W’ly airflow on its northern flank. With this, we probably won’t see much change in temperature, but we can expect a general increase in cloud and probably some rain on Friday. The wind will never be stronger than force 3-4 but Town and the Fermain area will always feel the warmest, due to their shelter from this.
Surf and the Water
The surf will probably be 1-3 feet and clean on Wednesday, then increasingly choppy through Thursday and Friday. Great swimming conditions all around the island on Wednesday and then more especially along the east coast on Thursday and Friday. Small tidal movements, with highs around lunchtime on Wednesday and Thursday, then mid-afternoon on Friday.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
