Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Monday 11/10/2021

Monday

Weather

A mixture of cloudy skies and hazy sunshine, along with the same force 3-4 NNE’ly that we experienced on Sunday. That said, since the clearance of Sunday’s cloudy weather-front, we are now in a cooler airmass, so we are only likely to scrape a max of between 15 and 16°C. If you are looking for a comfortable place to take a walk or a run then the south-coast beaches and cliff-paths will be the clear favourite.

Surf and the Water

Tiny choppy surf along the west coast, but lovely smooth conditions along the south coast for swimming and paddle-boarding. High water will be 8.8m at 10:30am and low water will be 2m at 4:50pm.

Tuesday

Weather

Dry again, with a slight increase in sunshine, along with a small wind-change to a force 2-3 NNW’ly. All resulting in virtually identical temperatures to Monday, although feeling a tad more comfortable in Town and some other eastern areas.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be even smaller on this day; barely even rideable for young kids. However, once again, the south-coast water will be idyllic for swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding etc. High water 8m at 11:10am. Low water 2.7m at 5:40pm.

Wednesday to Friday

Weather

Three dry and mostly sunny days; only the slimmest risk of a little light rain on Friday. Each day feeling very comfortable with barely a breath of wind, due to our close proximity to the centre of the high-pressure system. Daytime temperatures should be slightly higher, peaking quite easily at 17°C. However, night-time temperatures could fall pretty low, with min temps of just 9°C or perhaps even 8°C. It probably won’t be long before we have our first grass frost, but I don’t think we are quite there yet.

Surf and the Water

Whatever surf we get will be gorgeously clean, but there isn’t the promise of anything like that outstanding hurricane swell of last week. This time we are looking at a steady 1-2 foot swell, perhaps briefly picking up to 3 feet (if we are very lucky) on either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. As for the various smooth-water activities, well they will be fabulous all around the islands, especially because we will have much smaller tides. High water will be about 7.3m at 12:10pm on Wednesday, 6.8m at 1:50pm on Thursday, then 7m at 3:30pm on Friday.

The Weekend

Weather

With the high-pressure system rolling southeastward, to become centred near Switzerland, the Channel Islands will benefit from a gentle S’ly air-flow. It looks as though the mainly dry story will continue through the weekend (although this is less certain than the previous days). The most likely conditions will just be an even mix of cloud and sunshine, with temps peaking at 17-18°C by day, then dropping off to about 10-12°C overnight.

Surf and the Water

Again, any surf that we might be treated to will be clean as a whistle. However, it’s not likely to exceed 1-2 feet in size (just a slim chance of something bigger on Sunday afternoon). As for the tides, they will be getting a bit bigger again, as the moon approaches fullness… High water will be about 7.7m at 4:40pm on Saturday, then about 8.3m at 5:30pm on Sunday.

The next forecast update will be on Tuesday or Wednesday…
