Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Saturday 23/10/2021

Saturday

Weather

Very similar to Friday… mostly cloudy but with the odd sunny interval here and there. The temperature rising from around 8-9°C at dawn, to around 14°C in the afternoon. The wind will be different from Friday though. Still force 3-4 but this time coming from a S’ly direction, meaning that the north and west coasts will feel much more comfortable, but the south coast will be feeling a bit less comfortable.

Surf and the Water

Tiny but clean west-coast surf (1-2 feet and rather weak), making ideal conditions for keen kids who are learning. Winds will be lighter than previously expected, so windsurfers and kite-surfers will struggle, although there is a chance of a little action right at the end of the day. High water will be about 9m at 8:50am and low water will be about 1.8m at 3:10pm.

Sunday

Weather

Dry and probably sunny in the morning. However, the sky will cloud up by lunchtime, ahead of a showery afternoon. The temperature should peak at 15°C on this day, but it probably won’t feel any warmer than the previous days, due to an increase in wind… still be coming from a S’ly direction, but this time it will be fresh force 5.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast surf will be just as clean as on Saturday, but they will gradually beef up, from 2 feet in the morning to 3-4 feet by the end of the day. As for the windsurfing and kite-surfing, this day is looking much more promising from start to finish. High tide will be roughly 8.7m at 9:10am. Low tide will be roughly 2.1m at 15:30pm.

Monday and Tuesday

Weather

Sunshine and showers on both days, but the ratios will be very different… the wetness outweighing the sunshine on Monday, then very much the reverse on Tuesday. Winds will be force 4 W’ly on Monday, then force 3 SW’ly on Tuesday. This means that Town will feel warmest on both days, with max temps of 15°C and 16°C respectively.

Surf and the Water

The winds won’t be quite so favourable for kites and sail-boards on these days, but the surf should crank up to a pretty powerful 5 feet, making for some pretty fun conditions. As for the tides, they will be getting smaller, with mid-late morning highs of about 8.4m on Monday and 7.9m on Tuesday.

Wednesday to Friday

Weather

We will have a moderate S’ly wind throughout these three days, dragging air all the way up from the Mediterranean. Daily max temps should be a really pleasant 17°C, give or take half a degree, with the west-coast really feeling pretty great for some late season beach time. Skies will be a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine. I can’t 100% rule out any showers on Wednesday and Thursday, but my current expectation is that we will stay dry until some heavy ones turn up on Friday (possibly turning into a full-on winter storm overnight into Saturday).

Surf and the Water

Really clean 4-6 foot surf every day, with the tides becoming very small. Sounds lovely eh! Furthermore, with temperatures on the high side, the sea-swimming should also feel lovely, especially along the west coast during the middle part of each day.

The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
