Thursday
Weather
The breeze will be more noticeable more noticeable than on Tuesday and Wednesday (this time a force 3 SSE’ly). However, with plenty of bright sunshine, especially in the afternoon, it’s going to feel just as comfortable and pleasant (max temp of 14°C again).
Surf and the Water
More lovely clean surf to be found on the west coast, this time it will be clean because the wind is offshore, rather than flat calm. It will be a tad smaller than on Wednesday though, with waves of just 2-3 feet throughout. High water will be about 7.5m at 11:10am (probably the best time to go for a swim on either the north or west coast).
Friday
Weather
All change, as a fresh SW’ly wind brings a spell of rain around breakfast time, followed by intermittent showers through the rest of the day. Temperatures won’t be any lower than previous days, but the wind will make it feel much cooler in most areas. If you want to go out and feel quite warm, then the best places to head will be Town or Fermain.
Surf and the Water
Choppy waves along the west coast; just 2-3 feet and very lack-lustre in the morning, but picking up to a solid 6-8 feet in the afternoon. Excellent windsurfing and kite-surfing conditions out west, reasonably good swimming conditions in the sheltered east. High water will be about 7.2m at lunchtime.
The Weekend
Weather
Friday’s showers should have come to an end, although there is still the small chance that one or two will linger into Saturday morning. After that, it’s looking dry with a mixed bag of cloudy spells and sunny intervals. Temperatures peaking at 13-14°C, with moderate NW’ly winds on Saturday and Moderate NE’ly winds on Sunday (both days feeling warmest along the south coast).
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will still be really big and choppy on Saturday, there could be some clean fun waves along the south coast though). Then, on Sunday, the wind will be cross/offshore on the west coast, so the waves will be much cleaner there… probably a really fun 4-5 feet. Low tides will be around breakfast time and high tides will be in the early/mid-afternoons.
Next Week
Weather
The movement of a weak high pressure system, across the Channel, will give us settled weather and very light NE’ly breezes on Monday. On Tuesday, the weather will be equally settled and the breeze will be almost non-existent. Be sure to make the most of that, because we will have occasional showers and strengthening winds through the rest of the week; force 4-5 W’ly on Wednesday and Thursday, then force 6 SW’ly on Friday. As for the daily max temperatures, we will most likely continue to peak in the low teens.
Surf and the Water
Some super-solid and super-clean surf on Monday and Tuesday, courtesy of the recent Tropical Storm activity about a thousand miles away. Then the waves will become slightly smaller and rather messy through the rest of the week, but this will be offset by a vast improvement in the windsurfing and kite-surfing conditions. Medium-large tidal movements with lows in the late mornings and highs around dusk (generally around 8.5m).
The next forecast update will be on Friday…
