Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Saturday 13/11/2021

Saturday

Weather

A generally cloudy but dry day. Sure it’s possible that the cloud might occasionally be thick enough to squeeze out a spit and a spot but, equally, it’s possible that the cloud will occasionally be thin enough to allow a little sunshine. So, whilst the weather is generally bland and uneventful, the temperature will be suitably average, peaking at 13-14°C in the daytime, then falling to 10-11°C in the night-time. Winds will be force 3-4 NW’ly, meaning that the east and south coasts will be the most comfortable area to head out for a good walk.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast surf will be about 6 feet and powerful, but it will also be a bit choppy. To find something much cleaner, then it’s always a bit of a gamble but it could be worth rummaging around the south coast. Low tide will be at 8am and high tide will be at 2pm (roughly 7.2m).

Sunday

Weather

Another rather bland but comfortable day, virtually the same as Saturday, except that the force 3-4 wind will come from a NE’ly direction. Temperatures will peak at 13-14°C again, meaning that everywhere will feel about the same as on Saturday, except for the east coast which will feel a bit cooler.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be slightly cleaner on the west coast (4-5 feet); still pristine on the south coast if you fancy another gamble. Low water will be at 9:10am and high water will be at 3:10pm (roughly 7.5m).

Monday and Tuesday

Weather

High pressure will give us a couple of very settled days, with the breeze falling to just light force 2-3 (ENE’ly on Monday then SSW’ly on Tuesday). Skies will be mostly cloudy but it should be dry as a bone. The temperature will be about a degree lower than the previous days, but it won’t feel any colder due to the winds being so nice and light.

Surf and the Water

Some really golden surf, with solid 6 foot waves on Monday followed by 4 foot waves on Tuesday. Both days pretty clean due to the lightness of the wind. The tidal movements getting bigger with lows in the mid-late mornings and highs around dusk.

The Rest of Next Week

Weather

We will probably have a wet Wednesday, as a weather-front introduces cooler air for the second half of the week, along with a force 4-5 WNW’ly wind. Thursday and Friday, although cool and breezy, will be dry and reasonably bright. To feel most comfortable, it will always be bead to Town or Fermain.

Surf and the Water

Then the waves will be smaller (3-4 feet) and choppier than the previous days, but this will be offset by a vast improvement in the windsurfing and kite-surfing conditions. Medium-large tidal movements with lows around midday and highs a little before dawn and after dusk (increasing from 8.5m on Wednesday to 8.9m on Friday).

Apologies but I am on holiday at the moment with very limited internet access. The next forecast update will have to be on Tuesday…
