Monday
Weather
After such a cloudy weekend, we will be glad of some lovely sunshine occasionally breaking through on Monday. Apart from that, there will not be much difference in the weather… the wind will be a gentle force 3 E’ly and the temperature will peak at 6-7°C (a couple of degrees lower than the late January average).
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will be beautifully clean (mostly 2 feet but with the odd 3 foot set every now and then). The west coast will also be lovely for swimming and paddling, especially at Cobo and Port Soif. As for the tides; high will be about 8m at 10:20am and low will be around dusk.
Tuesday and Wednesday
Weather
After a bright and frosty Tuesday morning, the skies will return that familiar grey hue, and probably remain that way for the majority of the week ahead. However, there will be changes afoot, and this will be detectable in the wind. On Tuesday, as the high-pressure centre crosses the Channel northward, the breeze will be very light and variable in direction. Then, on Wednesday, as the high-pressure centre migrates to the Bay of Biscay, it will still be dry but a strengthening W’ly wind will gradually lift the temperature to a late max of 8-9°C.
Surf and the Water
There will still be some lovely clean 2 foot waves through Tuesday and maybe on Wednesday morning. However, the waves will get smaller and much choppier by the end of Wednesday. Swimming conditions will be good in all areas through Tuesday, but then it will definitely be best to go to the east coast on Wednesday. The tides will be about 7.7m high at 11.10am Tuesday and then about 7.4m high at 12:10pm Wednesday.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
There will be some sunny intervals, but the force 4-5 WNW’ly wind will also be scattered with showers, some of which are bound to hit the island from time to time. That said, they aren’t likely to be very heavy or prolonged, so the rain-gauges will probably only catch 1-2mm by the weekend, meaning that the ground should be reasonably firm and dry. Max temps 9-10°C each day. Min temps 7-8°C each night.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will be 2-3 feet and choppy. The swimming conditions will be best on the east coast, but they will also be good at south-coast spots like Petit Bot, saints Bay and Moulin Huet. As for the tides, they will be medium-small with lows around breakfast time and highs in the early afternoons.
The Weekend
Weather
Saturday will be much like the previous two days, with a moderate W’ly wind and only the most isolated of showers. However, Sunday will have a much stronger NW’ly wind and the showers will become more frequent and perhaps prolonged.
Surf and the Water
The surf won’t get any bigger but it will become even choppier. However, the windsurfing conditions promise to improve, especially on Sunday. Low tides will be in the mid to late mornings and high tides will be in the late afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday…
