Thursday
Weather
Feeling very different to the previous days… cloudy but bright for a time in the morning, with a moderate and mild W’ly wind. The afternoon will then become misty and drizzly, with some fog patches likely for a time, but it will all clear up in the evening, as the breeze veers N’ly and the stars begin to give us a twinkle. Daytime max 10-11°C, overnight min 5-6°C with the slight chance of a ground frost.
Surf and the Water
We’ve had lots of lovely little waves of late, so time for a day of choppy sloppy dribble (2 feet and rideable if you’re really into it). The windsurfing might be worth a bash though. Loveliest of all activities will be swimming and paddle-boarding on the east coast though. High tide will be just over 7m at lunchtime.
Friday
Weather
A slim chance of some mist patches in the morning. Otherwise, we are just looking at a dry and bright day with a few spells of sunshine and comfortable max of 9-10°C.
Surf and the Water
Ah that’s better, the clean 2-3 waves will be back along the west coast, and of course there will still be lovely smooth water for swimming on the other coasts too. High water will be roughly 7.2m in the mid-afternoon.
The Weekend
Weather
The vast majority of the time will be cloudy and perhaps a bit misty. However, every now and then, the cloud will be thin enough for a ray of sunshine to slip through. Likewise, from time to time, the cloud might be thick enough and low enough to bring a little mist and drizzle. As for the wind, that’s going to be a fresh W’ly on Saturday (max temp 10-11°C and definitely feeling nicest on the east coast), then it will become light and variable on Sunday (therefore feeling very comfortable in all areas).
Surf and the Water
Like the previous two days repeated, Saturday’s surf will be a choppy old mess, then Sunday’s will be 2-3 feet and beautifully clean. Low tides will be in the mid to late mornings and high tides will be in the late afternoons.
Next Week
Weather
With high pressure resident over Biscay for the whole week, it looks as though every day will be dry and marginally milder than average (max temps generally around 10°C). A few days are threatening to deliver a light shower or two, but that’s about as bad as it will get. Winds will be fresh NW’ly on Monday, easing to moderate W’ly by Wednesday, then falling light and possibly backing SW’ly by Friday.
Surf and the Water
The surf (mostly around 3 feet) is certainly looking choppy on Monday and Tuesday, but it promises to get a bit cleaner through the rest of the week. For swimmers, the south coast will be the place to go on Monday, and then the east coast will probably be the best from Tuesday onward. As for the tides, they will generally be high around dawn and dusk (BIG tides) and they will be low around lunchtime.
The next forecast update will be at the weekend…
