Sunday
Weather
Still rather cloudy, but the cloud will be much thinner and higher than on Saturday, so the day should generally be brighter and we should even see the odd sunny moment. There’s only the slimmest chance of the odd light shower, but none are really expected until dusk or perhaps even later. Even then, it will be spits and spots, nothing like the drizzly murky of Saturday evening. Max daytime temp 9°C and feeling very comfortable, as the wind will be very light and variable. Then, during the evening, a stronger WNW’ly wind will establish, keeping things relatively mild overnight, with a min of 7 or 8°C.
Surf and the Water
Beautifully clean 2 foot surf and lovely smooth water for swimming and paddle-boarding too. Low tide will be about 2.1m at 11:10am and high tide will be about 8.1m at 5:20pm.
Monday and Tuesday
Weather
Monday will be bright, with some pretty lengthy spells of sunshine. The max temp will probably be 9°C again, but the fresh to strong NW’ly wind will make it feel much chillier than Sunday though. Tuesday then looks both windier and cloudier, but the air will be inherently milder, so we should get up to 10 or 11°C on that day. As for the chance of showers, it’s pretty slim on Monday, but it’s not zero, so maybe keep an eye on the horizon if you’ve got some laundry on the line, then Tuesday is looking more definitely dry.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will be a total chopped up mess, but there could be some clean ridable ripples on the south coast (just maybe). The south coast will also be smooth and sheltered for swimming. Likewise on the east coast, at bays like Fermain and Havelet. The tides will be pretty big with this month’s new moon, with early morning highs of about 8.7m on Monday and about 9.2m on Tuesday.
Wednesday to Friday
Weather
Wednesday and Thursday will continue to be gloomy and grey (much like Tuesday), with a mild W’ly wind (moderate force 4 on Wednesday, fresh force 5 on Thursday). As for the chances of any rain, it’s looking pretty remote on Wednesday but we will probably see a few light showers on Thursday. Moving on to Friday… that one is looking very similar to Monday, with lots of lovely sunshine but also a fresh and chilly NW’ly wind.
Surf and the Water
Onshore winds will mean that the west-coast waves remain lumpy and bumpy. Furthermore, they will only be 2-3 feet, so certainly nothing to get excited about. The east-coast swimming conditions will stay good though and the tides will stay large (with breakfast time highs of roughly 9.6m each day).
Next Weekend
Weather
With high pressure building over France, we can expect dry and settled weather, with a gentle W’ly airflow, partial sunshine, max temps of about 10°C and min temps of about 6°C.
Surf and the Water
Very little change in swimming conditions, but most likely a small improvement in the surf conditions. Tidal movements will still be on the large side, but they will be relaxing somewhat, with mid-morning highs of about 9.2m on Saturday and 8.7m on Sunday.
The next forecast update will be on Tuesday evening…
