Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Saturday 05/02/2022

Saturday

Weather

This will be the finer of the two weekend days. With lighter winds and plenty of brightness. However, it probably won’t be quite as sunny as Friday was, due to the constant advance of a weather front, moving from Northern Britain in the morning, to Southern Britain in the afternoon and finally bringing a splurge of rain to the Channel Islands during the night time. Anyway, coming back to the daytime, the wind will be a moderate W’ly (so the east coast will be most comfortable) and the max temp will be 10-11°C.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast surf won’t be very clean but it will be a solid 4-5 feet and quite a lot better than every other day this week. As for the swimming, the east coast will definitely be best for that. High water will be about 9.2m at 9:23am and low water will be about 1.2m at 3:50pm.

Sunday

Weather

This day will be the mildest of the weekend (max temp 11-12°C) but you wouldn’t know it, because I’m afraid it will also be the wettest day (2-4mm from occasional showers) and the windiest day (force 7 W’ly). Skies will be very grey for the most part, but we might see the odd sunny interval around lunchtime , which might actually feel nice if you head to somewhere really sheltered, such as Fermain.

Surf and the Water

The west coast waves will be really solid (8-10feet) but the wind will make it quite difficult for surfers to enjoy. Fantastic for windsurfers and kitesurfers though. High water will be about 8.8m at 9:58am and low water will be about 1.9m at 4:23pm.

Monday and Tuesday

Weather

These days will be mostly cloudy and grey. They should be dry on the whole, but they will be rather misty in the higher parishes and this might occasionally thicken up to produce a little drizzle. Winds will be force 4 W’ly on Monday morning, backing SW’ly by Tuesday morning, then dropping right off to a force 2-3 S’ly on Tuesday afternoon. Max temps 10-11°C.

Surf and the Water

Monday’s surf will be about 6 feet and choppy, but not nearly as rough as on Sunday. Then Tuesday will really be the gem, with the waves holding strong at 4-5 feet and simply becoming cleaner and cleaner as the day goes on. High water will be about 8m at 10:30am on Monday, then it will be about 7.4m at 11:08am on Tuesday.

The Rest of Next Week

Weather

This is definitely looking like the sunny end of the week, but there will be quite a few cloudy spells too. Right now, it’s too uncertain to say exactly when it will be cloudy or when it will be sunny. However, we can be pretty confident that the temperature will peak at 9-10°C each day and then fall to about 6-7°C each night. Winds will be S’ly on Wednesday and then NW’ly or N’ly on Thursday and Friday… never particularly strong, most probably force 3-4.

Surf and the Water

More beautifully clean surf on Wednesday (probably 4-5 feet again), then slightly messier but still rideable surf on Thursday and Friday (most probably dropping off to around 2-3 feet). As for the swimmers, your sheltered spots will be in the north and west on Wednesday, then they will be down south on Thursday and Friday.

The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
