Guernsey Weather Fox

7-day Forecast. Starting Monday 28/02/2022

Monday

Weather

A cloudy but mild day, with the same S’ly breeze as the last couple of days. Weather-wise, there might be a little mist in the morning, but apart from that it’s all looking very bland, until shortly before dusk, when rain arrive and continues through the overnight period. Max temp 11°C, min temp 9°C.

Surf and the Water

Yet more amazing surf, as the swell stays clean and strong, picking up from 3-5 feet in the morning to 6 feet or more in the afternoon. Low water will be a little over 2m in the late morning, high water will be about 8m shortly before dusk.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Weather

Very wet and murky but not very windy… the wind will be force 2 to 4 and variable in direction on both days (mostly SE’ly), as a very slow-moving weather front sits over the Channel, wiggling north and south, waxing and waning in intensity. For the most part the rain will be light and drizzly, but it will probably be quite heavy on Tuesday morning. At some point on Wednesday afternoon, the rain should clear off. It’s not certain when, but if it’s early afternoon, then we might just be treated to some brighter skies before it gets dark. Max temps around 10-11°C both days, min temps 8-9°C on both nights.

Surf and the Water

Another couple of dreamy days for surfers… both super-clean; around 5-6 feet on Tuesday, dropping off to 2-3 feet on Wednesday. High water will be around dawn and dusk (8.7m on Tuesday and about 9.2m on Wednesday). Low water will be around lunchtime both days (good and low for the likes of Lihou Island).

Thursday and Friday

Weather

It looks as though a weather-front will bring a spell of rain on Thursday (late morning and early afternoon) and we might see the odd brief shower on Friday. However, through the rest of the time, we should be dry and reasonably mild (max temps 10-11°C again). As for the wind… moderate S’ly on Thursday morning, veering NW’ly after that weather front clears eastwards on Thursday, then staying NW’ly through Friday. The majority of the sunshine will be on Friday, so the south-coast beaches and cliff paths should be particularly gorgeous for a bit of an outing on that day.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be small and clean on Thursday morning, then messy and junky in the afternoon. Friday’s waves will be pretty whopping, thanks to the arrival of a solid new swell. The west coast will be a total mess unfortunately, but the swell should be easily big enough for some 3-4 foot novelty treats along the south coast. Big tides… with highs roughly 9.7m at breakfast time, and very low lows in the early afternoons.

The Weekend

Weather

Gentle SSW’ly breezes will bring mild air and a decent amount of sunshine. There’s a slim chance of the odd shower, but for the most part it should be lovely and dry, with max temps of 13°C giving the islands a lovely spring feeling.

Surf and the Water

Clean 4-5 foot surf on Saturday, dropping slightly to 3-4 feet on Sunday. High tides will still be around breakfast time (roughly 9.7m on Saturday and 9.4m on Sunday). Low tides will be in the mid-afternoons.

The next forecast update will be on Tuesday or Wednesday…
