Saturday
Weather
We will have some bubbly white cloud to decorate the otherwise blue sky during the morning, then the afternoon will just have brilliant sunshine and the night time will be super-starry. There will be a bit of a chilly feeling through the morning, as the NW’ly wind will still be moderate force 4, but it’s really going to feel nice in the afternoon when it drops off to light force 2-3. Max temp 10°C in most places but 11°C in Town. Overnight, the temperature will take a bit of a plunge, right down to 3°C, with many areas experiencing a ground-frost
Surf and the Water.
The 4-foot surf will get cleaner as the day goes on, due to the steady reduction in the onshore breeze. The south coast will generally be the nicest place to go swimming in the morning and early afternoon, but all coasts should be pretty smooth by the evening time. Tiny tidal movements, with a high of 6.5m around midday and low of 4.2m at 6:20pm.
Sunday
Weather
Chilly around dawn, but then a moderate SE’ly breeze will bring warmer air through the morning, and then some brightness and soft sunshine will warm the air further, until we hit a respectable afternoon max of 13°C. The west coast will be particularly lovely with the sea-walls offering shelter from the breeze, whilst the small tidal movements mean that the beaches stay sandy even through the lunchtime high-tide. This night will be much milder than the previous, with a min of around 8-9°C.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean 2-4 surf on the west coast. That’s also going to be the best coast to go swimming on, especially during the middle of the day, when the air is warmest and the tide is highest (peaking at 1:44pm with a tiny 6.1m).
Monday and Tuesday
Weather
The relatively warm air will continue to pump in from much lower latitudes and, as is often the case in these situations, there is a chance that thundery showers will develop over France and get carried across the Channel to England. The highest chance of thundery downpours for us are on Monday night, but there is also a chance on Tuesday afternoon and evening. The rest of the time will be rather cloudy but with plenty of brightness and the odd spell of soft sunshine. Winds will be force 5 SE’ly on early Monday, gradually veering and reducing to a force 3 S’ly by late Tuesday. Temperatures will peak around 15°C on Monday and 14°C on Tuesday. Overnight min temps will probably be around 10°C.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will probably be gorgeously clean on both days, 4-5 feet on Monday then 3-4 feet on Tuesday. If you are a windsurfer then you will probably want to pounce on Monday morning and if you are a swimmer then the afternoon high tides will be best (especially on Tuesday). Those tides… 6.5m at 3:45pm Monday and 7.1m at 4:51pm Tuesday.
The Rest of Next Week
Weather
Light SW’ly breezes will bring further mild air, but marginally less toasty than at the start of the week. 13-14°C is the most likely daily max and 9-10°C the most likely nightly mins. Skies will be mostly cloudy, but they will clear at times to give the odd spell of sunshine by day or moonlight by night. The odd shower looks possible (mainly at night time or during the mornings), but the vast the majority of the time will be dry and very comfortable for outdoor activities.
Surf and the Water
The surf won’t be quite as clean as on Monday and Tuesday but it will still be fun and easy for kids on their Easter break… likely 2 feet on Wednesday and Thursday, then 3-4 feet on Friday. Swimming should be great every day, with medium-large high tides during the evenings, it could be particularly fun in the Bordeaux area.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
