Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 04 June 2022

Recent storms to the east…

Saturday

Weather

Much like the last couple of days, the ENE’ly breeze will bring warm air and partial sunshine, along with the threat of thundery showers. The first threat of showers will be from around dawn until breakfast time, and it’s also likely to be a bit misty then. The next threat of showers will be towards dusk and then for a few hours into the night, and that’s the most likely time that we’ll get some rumbles and flashes. Max temp 20°C, with a UV index of 7 in the afternoon.

Surf and the Water

Flat surf but increasingly smooth water for swimming and paddling, especially out west. High water will be about 7.7m at 10:10am and low water will be about 3m at 4:17pm.

Sunday

Weather

A bit of a murky start to the day, with mist and fog patches and maybe a few showers. It should have cleared up a little by mid-morning though, with the sunshine finally returning around lunchtime. There will be a cooler feel to the day though, because the wind will have switched to a force 3-4 WSW’ly, bringing in air from the Atlantic rather than continental Europe. Therefore we will only get up to 17°C in most parts of the islands, although we should still manage 18°C or maybe even 19°C in Town.

Surf and the Water

Flat surf out west again, and this time the smoothest water for swimming and paddling will be on the east coast. High water will be about 7.3m at 10:47am and low water will be about 3.3m at 4:55pm.

Monday to Wednesday

Weather

Three days of light winds, mainly coming up from either the south or the southwest. This means that the air will be reasonably warm and it will feel comfortable, but we do expect there to be some showers or some longer spells of rain or drizzle at some point every day. On Monday it’s a dry morning followed by a wet afternoon. Tuesday should be dry and bright through daylight hours, but with plenty of rain falling in the night time. Then Wednesday, likely the reverse of Monday, with some wetness morning followed by a mostly dry afternoon. Daily max temps generally around 18°C, nightly min temps generally around 13°C.

Surf and the Water

We should have some smooth water for swimmers every day, especially up north, and the west-coast surf should be rideable and increasingly clean… 1 foot on Monday, 2 feet on Tuesday and 3 feet on Wednesday. High tide will be around lunchtime, roughly 7m every day.

Thursday and Friday

Weather

With a couple of larger-scale low pressure systems in the Atlantic, one near the Hebrides, and another waiting in the wings to the north of the Azores, it’s all going to get a little rougher in the air and on the water. Winds will be mostly fresh F5 SW’ly and these will bring cloudy skies for the most part, with occasional soggy weather fronts crossing the area at times. Temperatures will generally peak at around 16-17°C, but Town will always be on the sheltered side of the island, so it should feel much more comfortable at 18°C there.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be about 4 feet and reasonably clean, but the tidal range will be getting slightly larger, with the highs picking up to 7.5m by Friday afternoon. If you’re swimming then there will be a few sheltered options, but Fermain is always likely to be the best.

The next forecast update will be on Monday morning…
